United Church, Clinton, was ,the
setting for the .quiet but pretty
wedding of Mrs. Ruth Holland,
Clinton and Mr. James McBride,
Zurich. Rev. H. C. Wilson offic-
iated at the ceremony on Wednes-
day, January 4.
The bride wore grey crepe with
lace panels and bodice and wore
a corsage of red roses.
They were attended by Mr. and
Mrs. David Kay, Clinton. The
latter wearing navy sheer with
corsage of roses.
A dinner was served at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Kay.

Former Qinton Boy Wed in West
F/O, and Mrs. Gerald Elliott were married in First Baptist
Church, Moose' Jaw, Sask., on Friday, December 2a. The groom
is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Charles Emmerson Elliott, Clinton, and
his bride is Betty Sue, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis
Bunnell, Moose Jaw. The young couple is living in Moose Jaw
where the groom is stationed as a pilot instructor with the RCAF
Station,

The Women's Missionary Society
of St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church met at the home of Mrs.
George Roberton with Mrs. R. W,
McKenzie presiding.
After the call to worship and a
hymn, Mrs. Ed. Farquhar and
Mrs. George Gawley conducted
the Bible lesson and prayer. Mrs:
Robert Scott, secretary and Mrs.
John Snider gave the treasurer's
reports.
An enlightening and interesting
address was given by Mrs. Edit
Russell, Seaforth, on stewardship.
The members were challenged to
give time, talents, influence and
money to further the work of
Christ's kingdom.
The president announced that
the Worl&Day- of Prayer would be
conducted in St. Paul's Anglican
Church on February 17. Mrs. Lane
closed the meeting with prayer.
Mrs. L, Rathbun and Mrs. Mc-
Lennan assisted the hostess in
serving refreshments.

January Meeting
The -Woman's Missionary Society
and the Woman's Association of
Burns United Church held their
January, meeting on Thursday,
January 26 at the home of the
president, Mrs. J. T. White, Lon-
desboro. Thirty-six members an-
swered the roll call by paying
their fees.
Mrs. George Carter opened the
meeting with a hymn and Miss
Gladys Leiper gave the study book
on welcoming the new Canadians.
Ida Leiper gave a reading.
Thank-you cards were read from
Mrs. Peter Taylor, Mt. and Mrs.
Addison, Margaret Crozier, Mrs.
Neilans and Mrs. Jack MeEwing
fox their box of fruit at Christmas.
Mrs. White then took over for the
business. An invitation from Lon-
clesboro society to the World's
Day of Prayer was accepted.
Mrs. John Riley, president of
the WA, then took charge, A
committee was nominated to get a
mirror for the organ. The meet-
ing closed with a hymn and pray-
er. Lunch was served by Group
No. 2.

malting money. It was decided to
hold an afternoon card party for
the ladies; an evening card party
for ail, and to have a travelling
grocery basket,

for these sales.
Mrs. R. Fear gave a talk on
current events, mostly on world
events. Gordon Greig, secretary-
fieldrnen, Huron County Federa-
tion of Agriculture, showed a film
"World Without End", which
showed the members how little
they know about, our world. Alan
Cochrane favoured with a piano
solo which was well done, playing
"Rock of Ages" as an encore.
Mrs, Sturdy applied for a, life
membership in the Institute, It
was moved that a resolution be
sent through town council, regard-
ing sex deviates. `
Meeting closed with "God Save
the Queen" and lunch was' served
by the committee, convened by
Mrs. R. Connell.

Attend Windsor
CYO Convention
Miss Margorie Goldsworthy rep-
resented• St. Joseph's Parish CYO
at the annual Catholic Young Or-
ganization Convention for the Dio-
cese of London held in Windsor
last Saturday and Sunday.
Three other members of the
local club, Miss June Goldsworthy,
Frank O'Brien and Goff Brand,
accompanied Rev. J. W. P. Gra-
ham, the local CYO director, to
Windsor for the Sunday conven-
tion events. They were present
for the convention Mass in St.
Clare's Church. Convention closed
with a banquet for the 625 dele-
gates. Guest speaker at the ban-
quet was the well known youth
leader, "Tex" Ragsdale.

The Mnstral Park Home and
School Association held its regular
meeting on Thursday evening,
January 26, in the newly con-
structed auditorium of the A/V/M
Hugh Campbell Public School. Af-
ter a brief business session, G.
Harland was called upon to in-
troduce W. Gormley, one of the
new'' teachers, to show a most in-
teresting film that he and his
father-in-law had made while on a
trip to Algonquin Park, After Mr.
Gormley's film, L, Palmer intro-
duced as guest speaker, Captain
R. Bryant, Dental Officer at R.C.
A.F. Station Clinton, to give a
talk on "Fluoridation". " Following the general meeting,
lunch was served and parents had
an opportunity to look over the
neW section of the school and chat
with the teachers.
CANCER UNIT TO MEET
IN STRATFORD, FEB. 16
The annual meeting of the Perth
Huron Unit of the Canadian Can-
cer Society will be held in Strat-
ford on February 16. Voting dele-
gates from Clinton Branch will in-
clude Mrs. N. Forbes, president;
Mrs. 0. J. Stanley and Mrs. W. V.
Roy, vice-presidents; Benson Sut-
ter, secretary-treasurer. Everyone
is welcome to attend this meeting.
