Church, Goderich.
Percy Livermore, Mrs. J. M. El-
liott, Bert Gliddon and Mrs. W,
Jervis were the Clinton lawn
bowlers at Wingham mixed doub-
les tournament Monday evening.
Mr, and Mrs, James Freeman
(formerly Miss Olive Armstrong),
and two daughters, Mary and Kar-
in, Ontario, Calif., were visitors
with .Mr. and Mrs, A. T. Cooper
on Thursday last.
Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Frost, Henry
Frost Sr., and Henry Frost Jr., all
of Wallaceburg, were guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Les Martin on Saturday
and left for a week's vacation at
EIgin Lodge, Muskoka. •
R. Davis has been transferred
from Clinton to London. He left
to -day to take up his new position
there. His wife and family also
will be leaving Clinton as soon as
arrangements can be made.
Mrs. A. E. Bond attended the
Wingham Hospital nurses' reunion
held at Mrs. Median's cottage in
Kincardine on Tuesday. A pre-
sentation was made to Miss M.
Adams who plans to be married
in September.

The July meeting of the Worn-
en's
omen's Missionary Society of Ontario
Street United Church was held on
the lawn at the home of Mrs. W.
S. R. Holmes on Tuesday with. the
president, Mrs. Holines, presiding.
They had as guests, the members
of the Baby Band, Mission Band
and their mothers. The meeting
opened with a hymn, accompanied
on the piano accordion by Mrs.
Willis VanEgmond. The Lord's
Prayer was repeated ,in unison. •
The worship service was con-
ducted by Mrs. Willis VanEgmond
on the subject, "Our Dominion".
Prayer was offered, and the hymn
"Lord of the Lands, Make Canada
Thine Own", was sung. Psalm 72
was read in unison. The topic was
given, and part of the hymn,

Holds July Meeting
The July meeting of the Wom-
en's Missionary Society of Wesley -
Willis United Church was held in
the church parlor on Thursday
night, July 9, with a very good at-
tendance. The president, Mrs.
Shepherd, presided and Miss
Maude Torrance was at the piano.
The hymn, "Christ, for the World
We Sing", was followed by the,
"Confessional" and the Lord's
Prayer in unison.
Reports of secretaries were re-
ceived. 18 calls were made on
sick and shut-ins.
Mrs. McLaren was in charge of
the study period and read a very
beautiful poem entitled "God's
Dreams". This was followed by
the singing of the hymn, "Fling
out the Banner; Let It Float";
scripture lesson was read by Mrs.
Sutter, Sr., and Mrs. -McLaren of-
fered prayer.
United Nations and Christian
Missions was the subject for .the
study period. A skit• about the
relationship of missions to United
Nations was taken part in by the
following ladies, Mrs. McLaren,
Mrs. W. Jervis, Mrs. C. Nelson,
Mrs. B. Sutter and Mrs. Addison.
It proved very interesting and in-
structive.
Miss Stone told the beautiful
story of the "Good Neighbor"
which was listened to with a great
deal of interest and was very
much enjoyed by all.
The singing of the hyxnn "In
Christ there is no East or West"
and prayer by Mrs. McLaren,
brought the meeting to a close.
Cottage, "Humble Tun", for the
summer.
Mr. and Mrs. William Bell Sr„
(Dearborn, are spending three
weeks at their cottage. - Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Gosselin, Detroit, are
their guests this week..
Mrs. W. N. Watters, Goderich,
and four children, Nancy, Conrad,
Carolyn and Mark are vacationing
with her mother, Mrs. J. Radford.
"From Ocean Unto Ocean" was
read in unison. A poem, "Hymn
for the New Age" and prayer dos-
ed the devotional period.
A reading, "Care, Share and
Bear" Was read by Mrs. James
Livermore. Two trios, "Birds are
Singing" and ,"Bless Thine House"
were sung by Effie Plumsteel,
Carol Plumsteel and. Sharon Cook,
and a reading "Watch the Corners
of Your Mouth" was given by
Sharon Cook. Singing of a hynnn
and prayer by Miss S. Courtice
closed ,the meeting.
Lunch and a socials hour was
much enjoyed.
FIRE AT HENSALL
Fire of unknown origin gutted
the offices of Coo:: Brothers Mil-
ling Company at Mill and Wel-
lington Street, Hensel', on Satur-
day, July 11. Damage was esti-
mated at between $3,000 and
$4,000:
A passer-by saw flames shoot-
ing out of the building and turned
in the alarm. Hensall firemen
controlled the blaze.

Mr. and Mrs. James Atwood and

week at the home of the former's
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Dutot

Lynn Ross, Toronto, is visiting

was the guest of Mrs. Edgar Bauer
from Saturday until Tuesday.
Mrs. L. M. Burt, London, is
spending the vacation with her
sister, Mrs, L. W. Scotchmer.
The Rev. and Mrs. E. Carew -
Jones, Rosalind, Christopher and
Lynda are at Huron Church Camp
for ten days.
Bill Parker, who left two weeks
ago to work for the CPR in Lon-
don, spent the weekend with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. William G.
Parker,
The Rev. R. W. Wenhem, Hes-
peler, formerly of the Diocese of
the Arctic, will be the preacher at
St, Tames', Middleton and Trinity
Church, Bayfield, on Sunday.
Prof, R. K. De Pemberton,•Lon-
don, and his sister, Miss Isabel
De Pemberton were the guests of
Dr. and Mrs. R. G. Hunter over
the weekend.
