We are now coming near the close of an-
other campaign. • During this, campaign it has
been my desire tc ppeal' not• to party prejudice,,,
but to endeavour as far as I am able to place
before the people of this riding a true picture
of the. situation that confronts us.
The primary duty of the government was to
provide for the defence of Canada. At the same
time it took every care to see thslt Canada was
as well prepared as a peace -loving country could
be. When war was declared the strength of our
army was increased ten tames . ithit► a few days.
It was therefore inevitable that there would be
someshortage of Material. This shortage 'was
very
some,
provided for through the splendid
co-operation of the various industries.
The Canadian' Government has been in min -
Stant communication with the Governntent of the
United Kingdom, and . has endeavoured to co-
operate with the British authorities in their war
programme. This is not a time to experiment
with a new government divided in its policies,
but rather a time to -re-elect one that has, had
experience and is familia with the -problems to'
be faced:
it is for you to sae who is to renresent you
in Parliament for 'the next five years. 0 you feel
that , have seryed you well in the past, I appeal
tc 'nae not only your Vote, butyour in--
, fluen-e on my behalf in order that l' may ,','-
tin a to r 'our 'obedient servant.

SINGLE MEN WIN FROM
BENEDICTS IN OVERTIME
As an after piece' of Monday night's

The benedicts ` took the ice quite

definitely wasn't in hiding, in case he
