Hospitals are ter- ribly understaffed and over crowded. Three doctors see 300 to 400 patients a day. Nurses here get $6,000 a year, and that's with to 20 years experience. I went with Don Melady to a meeting and _Hallowe'en, pary with the CUM) people at Madan. Left Friday afternoon and came back' to Ilesha Sunday after- noon. There were 20 of us at the hostel, really nice, hot and cold showers, tubs etc. Weather is still nice warm days and evenings, comfort- able. Not so much rain as there was when I came. I don't know how they grow their "cows" here. The meat is tough as leather. You have to stew everything because you cannot chew it otherwise. We have a man who bringS eur fresh vegetables, to the deer everY, week- Oranges are 00 cents for four or five large ones. Bteadis 70 cents a loaf and alWay*fresh. Eggs Are $2 for 10 eggs or 20 Cents *Piece- , Must-get some letters off for Christmas now or they'll never make it. I think I will cut my list short. One letter is 45 Kobo, or 90 cents. Well, must get some more letters written and post cards to other friends. Bye for now Ray Letters were received by the McNichol family before Oct. 25. These letters contain interesting informatiop such as -- on the way to wbrk he saw his first snake. It was dead on the road, got hit by a ' car. He says, no other than in a cage• that's as close as he wants to see one. Ray and Don Melady went to a Nigeria store that caters to the whites. They found every- thing they would ever' want there, mustard, cornstarch. honey, jams. sausage, hot dogs in a can, lots of tins of meat, fish, salmon and every- thing you'd want. Lots of fresh vegetables. also cab- bage, beans, carrots, cucum- bers, radish, 'entice, egg- plant. etc. He says it all costs but 's worth it. Beer is cheap. They have cockroaches, but as long as you keep all food in sealed containers they get pored and leave! Everyone has them. Cats keep the lizards down- the lizards ate harmless but all over the place. The Sunday school semi- annual erokinole was held on Friday Nov. 20th in the S.S. room with approxintately 20 tables in play. Winners were High lady Helen Kolkinan; high man Gary Wilts; low lady. Angela Horbanick and low man Tim Lyons.. Other winners were Robbie Vin- cent and Mark Stackhouse. Lunch was served. The S.S. Executive thanked everyone who helped make the evening a success. Leonard Caldwell returned home on Wednesday from spending 8 days in Victoria Hospital London. - Marjorie Duizer will one of 10 4-11 leaders from Huron County to attend the 4-H Leadership Conference in Toronto Nov. 19-21. She had the honour of being asked to sit at the head table at the Friday evening Banquet and thank the Ministry of Agricul ture for the 4-H program. The hydro goes out often. in one letter, the hydro had been out for 10 days straight. They spent $8 on candles. Koffi is diabetic and was diagnosed one year ago. He was really sick and spent all last Christmas break in hospi- tal- had an awful time. The food supervisor would come and take his menu but, he never got any diabetic meals- Emerson Hesk spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Robinson, London and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hesk at Strathroy. Jessie Catalona of Idaho has been visiting with her brother Mr. and Mrs. Jake McDougall. Dora Shobbrook spent the weekend with Mrs. Vera Gibbings. Clinton and at- tended the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. He paid extra money for special Meals and still didn't get them! Tlxey never taught him anything about insulin. diet or exercise and he had to read and learn it all from a doctor friend. He takes insul- in by injection, but, its just a nurse that is living near him that gives it, so you can see- that health teaching is non- existent here! They depend a lot on CUSO help and teachers from out of state to teach as Nigerian teachers, it appears, are not too , well qualified. When they go to the markets they bargain for everything. Mary gave a reading "Gold yOur heart will hold" and welcomed all. Florence Viv- ian also, read. Minutes and treasurers report were by Dora Shobbrook. The draw donated by Vi Burns was won by Margaret Good. Roll call was answered with a current event with 11 members and 1 visitor pre- sent. Vietta Hoggart gave two readings. Two contests were Won by EtlYthe Beacom and SUCCeSs were Sunday guests of Mrs. Jean Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Allen $had- dick were in Brantford on Sunday and attended the christening of Daniel James, has contests Laura Lyon, Nest Meeting will be Group 4 on December 15th. A Christmas dinner will be served and gifts exchang- ed. Lunch was served by Mary and Florence. Schalk Board was held on Wednesday November 18th.
