THE H AC:MI-EXPOSITOR, NOV ER it, laat
cc ae s ket moves to new
A strange convoy went to
and fro on Dublin's Mill
Street Thanksgiving week-
end. For three days fifteen
shopping carts went full tilt
until the wee hours of the
mornings, up and down the
village's main drag.
MacRae's Market was
moving.
The new grocery store has
•
been open for about a month
but the 'GranclOpening" is
this week.
Rather than keep loading
and unloading a truck for the
short hop up the street,
owners Mike and Pat MacRae
opted to shuttle their mer-
chandise by * convoy of
shopping carts. All it took was
about a down emplosees, the
-carts. some elbow grease and
it was wheels away until
about 4 a.m. each morning.
The processionbegan at noon
Saturday and the new store
opened the f011owing Toes-
day. "Two bores of every,
thing" were left in the old
store while. taking
place. so it wouldn't have to
shut down.
The new store is like ,a
dream come true for Mr
MacRae, who has been assoc-
iated with the business for 17
years.
Among other things it has
twice the shopping floor area.
2,20() square feet versus
1.100 in- the old store, and
another 1,70(1 sqoate feet

the system used at Roth's
Food Market in Seaforth. The
expandett feetWv has allowed
the MacRaeSto int.fase staff
by two full-time and one
part-time employees. One of
these is a full-time butcher,
which the other store didn't '
have. Hes Mike Tigani who
comes to MacRae's from the
!GA in St. Marys where he
was the manager of the meat
department for 16 years.
The new store has a new
look to it, "bright and attrac-
tive" says Mr. MacRae "and
regulations, then as a "last
resort" bought the properties
for their new store on Mill
Street from l.es Seiler last
April. An old blacksmith's
shop was torn down before
the *anal building began in
the middle of July. A Small
business development bond
helped finance the construc-
tion which Mr. MacRae says
stayed within the estimate.

Mr. MacRae is 33. He
began working as a grocery

as (George) Goettler's Red

His wife Pat is the new
