LEW IS STONEHOUSE 887-9487 The '40th anniversary of the annual Nethery-Leishman reunion was held June 23 at the community hall, Londesboro with 130 signing the register. Mr, and Mrs. George Ives and family of Blyth were in charge of the sports which were enjoyed by all. Guests were present from Calgary, Thun- der Bay, Beaverton, Burlington, Hamilton, Niagara Falls, Mississauga, Brampton, 1301- ton, Brantford, Oakville, Ingersoll, London, Mitchell, Exeter, Goderich, Auburn, Clinton, Wingham, Bluevale, Londesboro and sur- rounding district. A musical tattoo by members of the Brussels'Pipe Band and songs by the Snell family were enjoyed by all: Alex Nethery of Burlington showed slides of old reunion movies and a group photo- graph was taken by Edward Gallagher of Kitchener. Following the supper hour; the president Alvin Gallagher of Kitchener, took charge of the meeting. He announced the deaths during the past year: Edwin Johnston, Gabriel Waive, Charlie Scanlon, Dorothy Black, Albert Shaddick, Abner Nethery, Jack Noble and Heber Nether), and a few minutes silence followed in remembrance. Alex Nethery of Burlington gave a history of the Nethery family and Isabel Garniss gave a history of the Leishman family, Special prizes were given out by Alvin Gallagher to the person who is 80 years old this year, Mrs. Percy Barker of Goderich; youngest person present, Kern Snell of Mitchell; person coming the longest distance James Owens of Calgary, Alberta; most recently married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Dan MacDonald of Brantford; the couple married 40 years, Mr. and Mrs. Edward McGill of Bolton; the lady wearing red earrings, Grace Potter and the man wearing a gold signet ring, Barry Boucher. A treat of watermelon was given to all present by Alex Nethery. President for next year, Alvin Gallagher of Kitchener and Secretary-treasurer, Mary Isabel Nethery of Belgrave. The meeting closed with "Auld Lang Syne". 50 YEARS WED A large crowd of relatives, friends and neighbors gathered at the Brussels, Morris and Grey auditorium on Friday evening, June 28 where a dance was held in honor of Clarence and Ruby's 50th wedding anniver- sary. Music was supplied by Tiffins Orches- tra. On May 15, 1935 at the Baptist Church Manse in Listowel, Ruby Lennox and Clarence Hanna were united in marriage by the Rev. Stanley Bagget. Stanley Lennox, brother of the bride and Evelyn Hanna, sister of the groom were their only attendants. Following their marriage they resided in Listowel where Mr. Hanna was employed at the P.K. Woolen Mills. In 1945 Mr. and Mrs. Hanna purchased the General Store and Post Office in' Belgrave, which they operated until 1963, when they returned to the house they presently live in. Their family consisted of three girls and two boys, Lorraine Cook of Belgrave, David of North Battleford, Sask., Jean/ Minick, now deceased of Kitchener, Larry of Londesboro and Gail Storer of Kitchener. PEOPLE Mrs. Clarence Yuill returned home last week from a three week vacation with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Philip Fee/ay of Burnaby, B.C. Dorothy Logan and Mr. and Mrs, Leslie Vincent spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Logan and family of Wyoming. Mrs. Rob Roy of Lakefield and Sheila Anderson of Oshawa spent the holiday weekend with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson. Mr. arid Mrs. George Michie returned home on Sunday from Sault Ste. Marie where Mrs. Michie had spent the past two wee*, visiting Dr. and Mrs. Donald Whipield, Jennifer and Jeffrey. Friends and neighbors of this community extend their sincere congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hanna who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday at the community centre Brussels, Morris and Grey, auditorium. Their wedding day was June 15, 1935. Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston, Tara and Erin of Ilderton spent the weekend at the home of his mother Laura Johnston. E.W. grads awarded BY HEATHER MORTON The Fast W awanosh Grade Eight Gradua- tion was a great success. Dinner was served to the graduates, head table guests, parents and grandparents at the W omen's Institute Hall on Monday, June 24, at 7 p.m. and a program of entertainment followed. Heather Morton and Linda Versteeg each played a selection on the piano and Mr. Chaulk entertained with his selections on the piano. Jacqui Van Camp and Joanne Olson sang. The program was then turned overto John Chippa who talked about getting the most out of education in future years. Certificates, awards and dipl,orna.s were received by Mike Wattam, Stephen White, Jeff Scott, Bryan Ramsey, Jim Fenton, Jeff Pletch, Jason Canites, Shawn Campbell, Linda Versteeg, Jacqui Van Camp, Joanne Olson, Heather Morton, Gayle Campbell and Yvonne Brewer. The graduation came to a close wit a bang, at the school at 11p.m. after a two hour dance, complete with balloonS and falling confetti. The students were glad to be moving on but also sad tor be leaving.
