most satisfactory progress in the
Maitime Provinces. The death rate
last year was low, being only 4.56 per

elaims have been 'promptly paid.
These amounted in hit to 3143,937.
This is less by 38,000 than was paid

netted with the siek and funeral
benefit department, 2,212 members
have been relieved, and the sum
distributed among these in their
sickness was $42,066.
Bro. John Neelands, igh Trees
urer, presented a report" which was
most gratifying to the eoart, showing
as it did how rapidly their insurance
surplus is growing. Tbe interest

coffers of the order 321,268. Ae.
cording to the report of Dr. Stanley,
Chairman of the Medical Board, the
death rate, with the exception of one
year, was lower last year than ever
before. The sick and funeral bene.
64 fand, aecording to the report of
Dr. Young, associate of the Medic il
Board, is not in as satisfaetory shape
as the insurance fund, The matter
of placing it on a better basis- will be
considered at a later stage. Mr, T.
W. Cam, in presenting tilts report
