Christmas isn't Christmas
without cookies, especially
those delicate little morsels
in a variety of shapes and
flavors loYingly cut and
pressed• and decorated in
seasonal-colors.
But along with all of the
other holiday preparations,
fancy' cookies are a time-
consuming nuisance to
make, right? Wrong. Now
there is a simple "make now,
bake later" cookie •method
"Easy &
Elegant" cookies with an in-
ternational accent`.
The "Easy & Elegant"
cookie mix may be prepared
weeks in advance and stored
in' an airtight container in a
cold place. The mix then
forms the base fora limitless
variety of cookies which are
traditionally buttery, dainty,
festive and have that "rich"
appearance.

cerned about additives and
preservatives in their food

that the cookie mix recipe
contains all-pure, basic in-
gredients. All that's neces-

"Easy & Elegant"
Cookies
•
Granulated Sugar Cookie
Mix -
5 cups All Purpose Flour
3% cups
(Granulated White)
Sugar
41/2 teaspoons Salt
1 cups plus 2
t blespoons Butter or ,
Mdegarine ,
Yield About 10 cups
• Use All purpose Flour.
• Use regular margarine br.

• Have all ingredients at
`room-temperature
• When miX,"is made, store
airtight in refrigerator,
freezer or a cold spot. Let
warm to room temperature
before using to make
cookies.
* • 1., Spoon flour into measur-
ing cup and level,with side
of spatula. Put into large
mixer bowl or other of
about that size.
2. Measure sugar .and ,salt,
into flour.
3. Stir" until well blended.
Electric beater on slow
may be used for mixing.
4. Add butter or margarine
and blend until mixture
resembles course corn-
meal.
5. Store in airtight container..
Do not press mixture
down. This special mix
differs from that of previ-
ous years in that it is for-
mulated for making small-

cookies.
Note: Eggs are added to the
basic cookie mix at the time
you make individual cookie
recipes. When adding eggs, it
is important to use large eggs
—not extra large or jumbo. If
