wed 60 years

Alfred and Dora Buchanan
of Huronview, Clinton, cele-
brated their 60th Wedding
Anniversary, Saturday with a
reception for relatives and
friends.
The couple was married in
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan,
on November 25, 1918. They
met while both were working
on a farm there during the
harOeSt season,
Mr. Buchanan, a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew
Buchanan of Hensall, had
gone west on a harvest
encursion. His wife-to-be,
Dora Covey was helping to
prepare the meals for the
harvest workers.
Dora had come to Canada
from England in 1904 when
-nine years old. The Covey
family went west to
Edmonton, as far as the train
went and then by prairie
schooner to liomestead at
Vermillion. The family later
moved to a farm near Moose
Jaw.
Dora and Alfred were mar-
ried and lived near Moose
Jaw and then moved in 1922
to farm east of Hensall in
Usborne Township, In 1941
they moved to farm at Con-
stance in Hullett Township
until retiring to Clinton 'in
1960.
Now residents of Huron-
view they both are confined
to wheel chairs. He is 86 and
she is 84. Mrs. Buchanan
still enjoys knitting "With
18 grandchildren and seven
great grandchildren, it's
easy to keep busy," she said.
The couple hats five sons
and they all were home for
the occasion: Wilfred of
Ilderton; Donald R.R.1,
Londesboro; Gordon and
Keith of British Columbia,
and Fred oL.R.R,2, Seaforth
and as welia daughter Joyce,
Mrs. Jerry Carter of Clinton.

said this week that residents
of Huron County have*
attained an enviable record
of $1:02 pear capita donated in

through the annual ,door-to-

special events in Huron such
as the snowmobile rally, the
Daffodil Tea and the bike-a-
than, and national grants.
The donations made
through In Memoriam cards
are a separate account and
money from that segment.

Commemoiation funds
also increased sobStantially
to bring the total income of
the Cancer Society in Ontario
to $14,189,754.

November 14, at St. James
Church. Stratford, with a
very good turnout.
The annual meeting was
also held and a new slate of
officers. was presented for

Shirley Dianne Crawford, daughter. of Horace and
Donna Crawford, R.R.6, Goderich and Ralph Donald
Wood, son of 'Don and Ann Wood of Seaforth, were
married in North Street United Church in Goderich on
September 30. Reverend Ralph King officiated at the
double ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by
her father. The maid of honor was Darlene Crawford of
London, the bride's sister. The bridesmaids were Marie
Fergusen, Goderich and Sherry Gregg of London, friends
of the bride and Sharon Wood. sister-in:law of the groom,
of Seaforth. The flowergirlwas Stacey Riley, niece of the
groom. The ..groomsman was Bob Smaie of Stratford,
friend of the groom. The ushers were -I3ob Clarke and'
Kevin Henderson, friends of the groom and Randy Wood,
brother of the groom, all of Seaforth. The ringbearer was
Michael Kerr, cousin of the bride of R.R.6, Goderich, The
soloist during the wedding was Mrs. Rose Loomans, and
the groom sang the Wedding Prayer when the service
commenced. Following the wedding, a dinner and
reception were held at Saltfdrd Valley Hall. After a
wedding trip to the West Coast, the couple are' residing at
76 Market Street, Seaforth.
