reports busy year

Mr- 44 Mrs. Bd Fischer* 78 JarViss Street were pleasanctly
surprised en the occasion tif their fortieth wedding
anniversary when they were the recipients of a new 3 piece
chesterfield and colonial style lamp from their family as
well as a ruby and crystal dish from their friends Joh ,' ar d
Marjorie Moore.
After a surprise .dinner at the Ali Baba Restaurant in
Stratford the rest of the evening was spent at the home of
their son Mr. & Mrs.' Brian Fischer, Stratford where the
Hschers were, once again surprised with the gift of a 3 tier
wedding cake.
Mr, & Mrs. J. E. Patterson & their family Mr. & Mrs.
John Patterson, Mrs. Dianne „Beattie joined in Toronto,
Mr. Allan Patterson from Vancouver, & enjeyed the Grey
Cup Game & festivities in Toronto.
Mrs. K. Gardner and son Stephen were guests of Mr.
& Mrs. Lou Smith in Egmondville.
Evelyn Cardpo, who was a patient in Seaforth
Community Hospital last week, is now home again.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Smith of North Bay have returned
home following a visit her brother John C. Crich and
Mrs. Crich in town and Mrs. Syd Gemmell in Egmondville,.
Rob Tetu, of Beechwood Pottery, is one of 100
craftspeople who have been selected to show their work at
the London Christmas Craft Show, held at the Western
Fairgrounds in London from December 14 to 17. This is the
first time the show, featuring craftspeople from Ontario
and Quebec, has been held.
A daughter of a Seaforth old boy is featured in a
photograph in the latest National Geographic. Bridget
Westcott, a sailor, daughter of Clare Westcott, appears in
a photo story on Ontario.

Albert and Mary Regier of
Clinton celebrated their 60th
wedding anniversary at
Huronview, Clinton, on
Tuesday, November 28. They
had a family get-together in'
the summer to celebrate the
occasion.
Mr. Regier, 86 is a son of
the late Elizabeth (Krauskopf
and John Regier. Mrs.
Regier, 77 is a daughter of
the late Maryann (Miller)
and Mark Wild.
The couple, married on
November 28, 1918, at
Mount Carmel, took up farm-
ing in Stephen Township
west of Crediton. In 1965
they retired to Centralia
where they lived for eight
years. For the past five years
they ahve been residents of
Huronview.
They both enjoy reading
The Seaforth Dashvvood
„Community Band certainly
didn't rest on its laurels in
1978.
The band played its first
engagement in May at the
Stratford Festival opening
and also performed durine
the Perth County Centenoifi ,
celebrations.
In June, the band
entertained local residents at
a concert in Victoria Park and
in the Optimist Club's 'Mardi
Gras.
In July, out-of-town
engagements included
enteraining at the Zurich
'Fair and the Plattsville

County, had another bonanza
year in the fiscal year just
ended September 30, the
annual meeting learned last
Wednesday night, November
22.
Assets jumped nearly 40 per
cent to $19,209.554 from the
$13,657,576 of the previous
year, while Membership
jumped more than 900 or 14
per cent in the past year and
now exceeds 6,300, thanks
mainly to the growth of the
Exeter office.
Menibers voted last week
to pay out nearly $1 million
($990,767) in •dividends to

home in Egmondville.. Roy
received his basic training at
Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, and

In August the band
performed at a concert in
Victoria Park, at the
Dashwood, Festival, and at
the Lucan Fall Fair.
September proved
particulary busy with the
band entertaining at four
events including the Mitchell
Fall Fair, the Blyth
Threshermen's Reunion, the
International Ploughing
Match and the 'Exeter Fall
Fair.
This month, the band
performed in the Seaforth
Legion church parade and in
St. Mary's Santa Claus
members this year, which
represents a 9V4 per cent
payment. That compares
with $708,278 or 9.75 distri-
buted last year.

young," she remarked. They
had a family of 1.6 children,
with 14 surviving, 75 grand-
children and 32 great grand-
children.

Jack Reid was elected to
.the Board of Directors to
replace Gordon Scribbins for
a two year term. John Lavis
and Milford Durst were
re-elected to another three
year term. Richard Lobb and
Jim Hunter were re-elected
on the credit committee.

special confirmation service
at St Thomas 'Anglican
Church in Seaforth Sunday
evening.
The sermon and the rite of
confirmation were presented
by the Right Rev. Geoffrey
Parke-Taylor, London, newly
elected Bishop Suffragan of
the Diocese of Huron. The
Rev. James Broadfoot assist-
ed with ,the service.
