will be more organized.

This yeas; soccer tourna-
ment was held at the Huron
Centennial School in Bruce,
field on .1978-10-04. There
';• ' •
were two teams representing
our school, There were fif-
teen Ode seven and eight,
boys and nineteen, 'grade
seven and eight girls. Each
team played a total of six
games. The S.P.S. teams pia
a great deal of 'effort intq
their games and were greatly
rewarded as the- girls team
placed first and the boys'
team. placed 3rd.. Mr. Dyck
and Mrs; Reynolds coached
our soccer teams,

this year will be held at
Central Huron Secondary,
Clinton on 1979-02-11„ At
present, our Physical HOu=
cation teacher teacher, Mrs.
Reynolds is teaching the
grades 7 and 8 .students the
many skillS and techniques of
'volleyball. $tarting soon,
there will be house league
games in
Mrs. Reynolds also
teaching the grades 4, 5 and
the game of Newcombe
Ball, a lead-up game to
Volleyball which will also be
played in House Leagues.

started sorhething new at
S:P.H.S. We began selling
candles to raise money for
the Students' Council. Each,
candle costs $ 5.00 and they
come in two different colours
white and blue. There are
prizes given out to the
students for selling them:
If you sell one; you win a

the Bears, who although they
gave it all they had, lost
70-39.

It is proving to be a very
successful campaign thanks
to the co-operation of all the
students. I hope we can do

paigns this year.

Last Friday, classes were
cut short and fourth and fifth
classes were dropped
altogether so the students of
S.D.H.S, could'he treated to
a film. The movie was called,
"To Kill A Mockingbird"
and many orthe students had
taken this novel by Harper
Lee,. in English, at one time
or another.
After the movie, there was .
a pep rally led, by the
Cheerleaders. They did a
number of cheers to boo'st
enthusiasm in the students
for the ,boys' basketball

• On Ttesday, November
21st, Mrs. Roskc, the health
nurse and Mrs. Thompson,
nutritionist, ' held ' an
assembly for the junior side.
At the assembly they
discussed'and showed 4 films
about nutrition and what to
eat to be healthy.' Grade 3
opened .the, assembly with
two songs under the direction
of Miss Bennett.
SPS -runs
cross country
The cross. country meet
this year was held at the
Hullett Conservation Area
near Kinburn. Besides SPS,
Hullett Central, Huron Cent-•
ennial, Clinton, Holmesville
Blyth, Vanastra and Clinton
Christian Schools took part.
The course was a difficult
:One as The runners had to go
through plowed fields, corn
fields, long' grass, through
ditches, over bridges and
roads, and through Wooded
areas. The course was about-
Olive kilometres long. •
We entered eight groups
all together and we •were
fortunate to have one group,
the Junior Boys, place first.
The good team effort Was
responsible fOr our doing
Well, Because of this teatn
:effort the S.P.S. team fin-
ished first overall.
