50th weddins anniversary
last weekend,-The McQuaids
were married in St. Patrick's
Church, Dublin on Nov. 12,
1928, and the bride's uncle
Rev. Father Dantzer, offici-
ated at the ceremony, held
on a rainy Thanksgiving
weekend.
On Saturday evening. at 5
p.m., the ,McQuaids marked
their 50th anniversary with a
mass celebrated by Rev.
Father Laragh in St. James'
Roman Catholic Church.
Mrs. V.J. Lane. cousin of the
groom. was the organist and
Roy McQuaid Of OA aiva. was
the soloist. The altar boys
were Allan Murray of London
and Patrick.' Denomme of
Zurich; the reader was Glen
Murray of Toronto and the
ushers were . Michael
McQuaid of Ottawa and
Francis Denomme of Zurich,
all grandsons of the
McQuaids. 'The , couple's
bridesmaid of 50 years ago,
Eileen Cronin of St. Colum-
ban, attended the mass as
'did the groomsman, Frank
McQuaid Sr.. brother of, the
groom, of Kitchener.
Following the mass, a
dinner and reception was
held at the Seaforth Legion
with 75 guests attend-
ing.. Nelson HoWe's 'orche-
stra of 'Cromarty provided
music for dancing following
the dinner.
The McQuaids farmed in
McK illop Township until
, they retired into Seaforth one •
year, ago. Mrs. McQuaid was
a schoolteacher before her
marriage and Mr. McQuaid
was the assessor 'for
McKillop Township for 23
years.
The couple have,two sons
and twb, daughters. 'The
daughters are Patricia. Mrs.
Patrick 'Murray of London
and Mary Lou, Mrs. Matthe
Denomme of Zurich. The
sons are Roy and Frank, both
of Oshawa. The McQuaids
also have-25 grandchildren
and three great 'grand-
children.
