The Huron Expositor, 1978-11-02, Page 6by,Mabel turnbuil
This has been a busy week
at Kilbarchan. On Monday
several of the residents went
on a scenic tour which took
-them to Clinton, Auburn,
Goderich and Benmiller
where they saw autumn in all
its glory. They also saw a
deer and several wild ducks.
On Thursday several resi-
dents joined with the Sea-
forth Manor and spent the
afternoon at the local bowl-
ing lanes. Results were:
Mattie Oho (59), Lucy Bushie
(89), Clarence Jackson (44)
and Rueben Aikens (not
completed). For me it was
back home ' to Kilbarchan •
after two weeks in hospital'
following a' crippling fall. ,
Two 'church services, were
held in My 'absence when
Rev.. Vanslyke of Northside
United Church and Rev.
A.A.liorst of Brodhagen St.
Peter's Lutheran held serv-
ices. I'm sorry I missed these
and as a result I have no
details.
Re: my fall I lost my
confidence and 'lost my bal-
ance which after a "Dizzy
da" I landed on the floor
bruising my Ie Xrays
revealed a hA ine fracture
but fortunately there was no
separation. In this case the
fracture will heal itself with-
out being pinned. It seems to
have wakened up My sleep-
ing nerves which, resulted
from a stroke some years
ago.
My mobility was badly
shaken so I have to learn to
walk all over again which 'is
proving a painfulcompli-,
cation. With the help of ttly
therapist and the nurses here-
must win.
Recently in these notes I
recalled an anniversary of
fobrteen years at Kilbarchan
Oct. 18-I spent the day in,
hospital. The date passed so
there was no celebration. I
wasn't even aware of the
date. I tell my friends this fall
has slowed me up hitt not
'phut' me up.
Jack Frost, St. Thomas,
visited Pearl and me this
week. Harold Barry has
moved to lizatieth Court.
Hensall where he 'will spend
I the winter!,
