WEATHER AWARD—Mr. and Mrs. Norman Baird, R. R. #1, Brucefield, were
presented with an award of merit last week by R. S. Tsuda and Philip Aber of
Environment Canada: The. Bairds have been recording , the weather and
precipitation daily for over 20 years and Norman Baird is the third generation in the
family to- keep weather records. .The Bairds were presented with a framed
certificate and a weather station, containing a barometer, thermometer and

which Donald and Olga thanked
the . group sincerely. Guests

smorgasbord meal was served
following the program.
Donald and Olga are being
married in August. Their many
friends wish them great
happiness.
Donald- is •attending Waterloo
University and working for his
Masters of Applied Science 'in
Systems Design Engineering and
Olga received her Bachelor of
Applied Science Degree lin .1977
from the University of Guelph in
Family and Consumers Studies,
At the Spring ConvocatiOn at the
University of. Western Ontario.

few days last weekend in—the
Windsor area. Some of the time
was spent at Boh-Lo Amusement
Park at Amherstburg, and on
Saturday they went to the Henry
Ford Museum in. Detroit.
Doug and Mildred McAsh and
their children holidayed for a
,week at French River.
Jack and Margaret Hunt,
returned home on Saturday from
an enjoyable bus trip to Mackinac
Island, Sault Ste. Marie and
Agawa Canyon. They returned by
way of Manitoulin Island.

'Althouse College as a teacher and
was on the Dean's Honour Roll.
Donald is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Beatrice (Barrisdale) Boyce, wife
of the late Robert, Henry Boyce
died in her 83rd year. She was the
mother of the late Mrs.' Harry
(Iris Lucille)' Spading,. Toronto,
(December 14. 1970) Mrs. Earl
(Shirley) Hackett, Stratford,
gi'andrnother of Mrs. Stephen
(Ruth) Scales', Susan Hackett,
David Hackett all of Stratford.
and Stephen Boyce Sparling.

Funeral service was held from
the Bonthron Funeral Home,
Hensall, on Sunday July 16, at
2:30 p.m. with Rev. Robert Dc
Graw officiating. Interment in
Baird's Cemetery.
The pallbearers. were Harold
Parker. Ted Thuss, Clarence
Smillie, Jahn Kinsman, Bob
Parsons. Ross Sararus.

Sunday. A good support for his
ministry would be appreciated.

active again last week with the
main trade being in heifers and
steers; prices were lower on
heifers but higher on steers. Fat
cattle; heifers, $57,50-$63.50, top
to $64.50; steers, $63.50-$67.50,
top to $67.80; cows, $38.00-
$45.00, top to $51.50. Pigs;
$35.00-$45,00.
The parents of Parkash Malik
of Hensall arrived in Canada in
the second week of_June 1978.
After staying a few days with
their eldest son in Toronto and
with the youngest son ' in
Strathray they are now visiting in
Hensall. The whole family visited
Niagara Falls on the weekend of
July 9-10 and had a family
gathering at the fa,11s.
The parents of Parkash, J. Rai
Malik and his wife Jasoda Malik
will stay in Canada for about four
months, They are planning to
visit all the historical and
important tourist ,places in
Canada and. U.S.A. They have
already visited many places and
„they found the people of .this
country very nice •and friendly.
Mr. and Mrs.'.1. Rai Malik are
very happy to meet their children
and grandchildren after three
years and the whole family is very
happy on, this unification.

Paul and Dianne Stevenson of
Kinburn, who play guitar and
accordian with the Music Makers'
Band, had a very rewarding
weekend at Muskiest in Toronto.
Aboutfifty_ of Paul's students
from his Clinton and ListOwel
studios competed, and nearly all •
of them were awarded first class
honours.
Brian Chessell received the
adjudicator's trophy for first in a
dass of eleven, and Joanne
Grunewald received first in solo
and first in duet with Brad James
of Clinton Dianne's students in
accordian and piano won several
adjudicator awards, and all of
them received high marks.
The Chessells attended the
Silver Wedding Anniversary
party for Bob and Ruth Laing of
m. 44.
