Stockers and feeders -Receipts were
moderato this week, and included 11
loads from Canada; the market
cleaned up fairly steady for good
weight late Monday, but yearlings
and stock valves were all bringing
$4.90, and others $4.75 to $4.80 per
cwt. ; good to best stock steers, $4.20
to $4.75 ; common to f'a.ir, $4 to $4.15 ;
good to best feeders, $4.25 to $1.50 ;
fair to good, $3.90 to x'4.10 ; year-
ling and stock calves, $4.60 to$4.90.
Hogs -Receipts, only a few cars ;
market fairly active and str,.ng, and
prices for all grades but pigs were
a shade stronger ; good to choice
Yorkers, $4.25 to x'4.30 ; mixed
packers' grades. $1.30 to $4.35,
medium weights, $4.35 ; heavy hogs,
$4.35 ; roughs, $3.80 to $3.95 ; pigs,
$3 85 to $4.05. Sheep and lambs -
Receipts of fresh sale stock light;
the market was about steady, with

GOOD ROADS' MEETING.
A good roads' meeting in the in-
terests of the citizens of Blyth, East
Wawanosh, Morris and Hullett will
t13e held in industry ball, Blyth, on
'Thursday evening, May 2Gth.
The meeting will be addressed by
31r. A. W. Campbell, C. E., provin-
cial toad commissioner, and every
•citizen of the municipalities men-
tioned above should make it a point
to be present at the meeting ard
fi.ear how to make and maintain
cheaper and better roads.
PROGRESS OF THE WAR.
News was received from Com -
inlander Dewey ori Saturday at
'Washington, to the effect that he en-
tered the harbor at Manilla, in the
I'hillippine islands a week previous,
and engaged the Spanish fleet there,
which after a few hours fight he
totally destroyed. From 12 to 14
Spanish war vessels were either burn•
sed, blown up or sunk. The Span-
iards lost about 1,000 men, killed or
wounded. The Americans did not $4.75 to $5 ; culls to common, $4,25
lose a single man except one, who
died from the heat or something.
.About half a dozed received slight
injuries.
There has been no further move, -
meat made upon Havana, as the
American ship keep a safe distance
from the forts, and it has been de-
cided not to attempt to land a force
in Cuba until the fall, or at least not
until the Spanish Atlantic fleet has
la;een suet and wiped out.
