Britain. reskience • 12 Church St., Plan/Lot No..4/28,29, Present
owner Denzil Britton. -Built in 18,71, two storey white- brick. In
1886 Dr. Bruce Smith added the south portion for Officespace.
The builder and original owner was Phillip Sparling. It is a small
centrally Pi' nned, Georgi e house. The round-headed
middle (upper • dOw, is n example °Utile Italianate
Style popular at the time of construction. There' is a fine
verandah that extends the, full width of the front • facade. •
Detailingabout the,front entrance'and the curvature of Verandah
roof are exa_mples of the-craftsmanship that went into this home.
Carrot residence - 131 Goderich, St. West. Plan/Lot No. Con.
I /Pt. Twp. Lt. 12., Present owners Paul and Mary Carrol. Built in
1875, two storey white brick. In 1880' an' addition at the rear
(south 'west) was built and the verandahs on both sides of the
front entrance were later removed and the enclosed east side
porch was added. The builder and original owner was Philip
Sparling. It was originally -a square plan Italianate house,. now in.
"T" shape through the -1880 addition. The front elevation has ,
a central two storey projectien containing the .front entrance.
Narrow doors on both sides• eftlte „Witt projection led to the
original front 'verandahs'. The front doo'r has a round headed
Tuscan form: ' . , .
Cornish residence .- 17 Helen St., Plan/Lot NO. 17/6,7. Present
owners Dayid and' Grace Cornish. Built in 1870. Type
construction: 1 1/2 Storey clapboard later changed to sinew. This/
house is only one of two protiOns of the original located at the
corner of Main and Goderich Sts, Architectural significance: This
hotise•Js in excellent condition and contains in its central •
projection examples of 'Neo-Classical and. Gothic 'Revival detail.
Doig residence-'98 Goderich St, W. Plan /Lot No. 0/2 and 1/2
of lot 1. Built priOr to 1850. Present owner Ken 'Dbig. Type of
construction 11/2 storey white hriek. Architectural significance:.
considered to be one, of the first brick residences, to be-built
Seaforth, an example of the first farm house style, built b'

owner -Ron Hansene Built in 1885, 1 1/2 storey white brick. In 1903
addition at rear by R.S.Hays. The builder was .Philip Sperling
and the original ownereeas Wm. M e Gray, a partner in the Gray,
Young and Sperling Salt Works, The style is vernacular,
consisting of style variations originating with-foreign architects...,
An impressive feeture is the deep -cave projeZeion With finely '
detailed yet massive wtioden bracketS.
Horthy' residence 87 Main St. N. Plan/Lot No.: 4 /1 9. Present,
owner Mrs. Genevieve Horthy of Toronto. Built in 1872. Type of
construction 1'/a storey white brick. Architectural and historical
significance:. one of earliest brick houses built by John G1' Ament,
'Front facadfacing East is believed to be completely original.
Kt4 reOgnce, - 11 Victoria St. Plan/Lot No: 7/39, presentee
owners: John Dorsey and Mary Kunz. Built in 1880. Type of
construction: 1 1/2 storey wood frame . 'Architectural significance:
centrally located front projection with the entrance •on the side
rather than directly on the front. Curved shaped roof verandah of

residence, - 99 Goderich St. W., Plan/Lot No. 10/2,3.

construction: 2 storey. 3 .brick deep construction. Architectural
significance: one of Seaforth's oldest residences. Features front
the Greek Classical Revival Period. House in excellent condition

Lorne Villa Apartments - 92 GoderichSt. W. Plan/Lot No. 4/18,
half of 1/13. Present ' owner: Mrs. Mabel Crouch. Built
1886-1890. Converted to apartieents in 1964. Type , of

the gable' roofs, 2 storey bay window with' stria!! balcony.
Architectural significance: a large brick mansion, this 'house
represents the non-farmhouse style of residence in Seaforth.
McIver residence 1 41 John St. Plan/Lot No. 3/102, Present
owners, Margaret McIver and Alice Stiles: built in 1874. Type 6f
construction: 1 1/2 storey wood frame. Architectural significance:
Unique se t of 3 Scottish dormers is outstanding feature of (the
house, plpe• vertical grooves on the clapboard siding.
Smith residence = 122 Victoria St.- Plan/Lot No.: 7/60, 61.
