pleted for an excursion to the Model Farm
at Guelph on Tergaitsionalienlise2. The fare

A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT
0/On Thursday afternoon a most unfortun-
ate accident occurred at a barn' raising on
the farm of Mr. Thos. Haug"'s u1 Tarte-
berry. by which Walter Carruthers, Eon of
Mr. Frank Carruthers, has probably sus-
tained fatal injuries o: et least injuries
that will make;him a cripple for life, and
`John Weir sustained severe scalp wounds
and lay unconscious for some time. The
accident was caused by raining the pneline
plate of the strew shed before the plate of
the main building_ had been placed and on
,which the post of the former rested. When
the rafters had been placed on thin end the
plata overbalanced and • in its fall carried
with it the two young men already named.
The wonder is that more were not hurt. At
first it was thou ht that the young man,
Carruthers', back was broken but it now
seems not to be as badly injured as was at
