Season's Greetings

The third annual Christmas
Concert by the Community Band
was given Dec. 5 at 2:30 p.m. in
the Huronview auditorium.
The band, under direction of
Dr. Chas. Toll, opened the'
concert with the National Anthem
and Maple Leaf, followed by an
old favourite Col Bogey. A series
of Christmas carols was'' 'then
played.
The second part of the program
consisted of carol' singing
conducted by Doug. Stewart with
Miss Marjorie Papple
accompianist, who later played a
eilano number, and Scotch
dancing and club swinging by
Sylvia Wilson of Varna.
Step dancing by Lisa and Lori
Strong with special number by
Lone followed.
An accordiari and guitar and
vocal duet was played by Patti
and Vicki O'Rourke.
Other items on the program
included:
Duet by Anne Allen and Paul
Stewart with auto harp; pipe
- selections by Peter Malcolm; old
time vocal selections, by two band.
members, Jack Gaiser and Stan
Heist, Dashwood• with guitar
accompaniment, finished the
variety program.
Deputy Director. Harry s,
Hoffman led the band in a few
selections and stirring marches
closed the final program.
This is nn annual Christmas
event eagerly looked forward to
by the residents of Huron. A vote
of thanks was given by Miss Pearl
Gidley of Blyth, choir leader of
United Church and of the Gidley
Toll orchestra of former days.

council approved and issued
building permits at the Dec. 2
meeting for Leonard Robinson,
20 pole barn, Ed. Daer, implement
4 shed; Harold McClinchey,
granary and Richard Moore, Pit
Silo, Loose Pen.
A further grant of $80.00 will
be forwarded to Wingham
Recreation and Community
Centres Board in place of
371 surcharge being placed on
308 ratepayers in East Wawanosh to
cover people , participating in
various recreation activities in
wingham in the summer of 1976.
1976 showed a noted increase in
people from area using facilities.
Howard. Walker, representative
from the Township to the
Wingham tufd District FL ospital
Board gave annual report to
council.
Council recommended that the
Registered Nurses Assistant
Training School be continued as it
is felt that the graduates of this
school are an asset to the hospital
services.
"The inaugural meeting for
January, 1977 will be held
Tuesday, January 4, at 11 a.m.
Remuneration for election
officers was set at: Polling Places
receive $25.00; Deputy Returning
Officers $30.00; Poll Clerks
