For the Kings and Hawks the
---restof season is going to be a long
'session of catch-up hockey. Both
clubs lost again last Sunday night
and the front winning Blu'es now
loolitto be tail lights disappearing,
on the distant horizon.,
- The two tail-enders meet next '
Suiday night and' the outcome of
the game could, early as it is,
decide the fate of , both clubs.
Should the Kings lose they
would go 0-5 and the prospects of
even a .500 season would• seem
remote at best.
The Hawks (1-3) need the win
`to.stay within shouting distance of
the leaders.
If breaks were given a mone-
tary value both teams would be
forced to sell out immediately.

On Friday, November 26, the
Brodhagen Chamber of
Comnierce treated the Brodhagen
Squirt Girls ballteam and all the
coaches and managers of the
Brodhaget teams who took part
this year to' a beef dinner.
Don McClure chaired the
awards present.ttion. Art Hinz"
thanked the caterers for the meal.
Bob Jarmeth spoke a few words
on behalf of the Chamber of
Commerce and Doug Vock
thanked the . cdaches and
managers.
The squirt girls coaches Janice
Davies and Agnes Gaffney
presented their team with trophy
and crests. Glenda Beurman and
Eileen Duffy presented Janice
and Agnes with gifts on behalf of
the team.
Congratulations girls in
winning the W.O.A.A. Squirt
valuable player. The first winner,
as selected by team members, is
Brad Finlayson. Brad is a worthy
recipient due -to leading the team
in scoring along with his constant
hustle and determination.
On Satiirday—Nov. 27, practi-
cally all the team members
attended' the London & District
Soccer Association's awards
presentation and league dance.
Each member received an
individual trophy for winning the
3rd Division Cup in 1976. The
dance that followed was great and
everyone enjoyed themselves
immensely. (The Grey alp party
the next day wasn't bad either.)
This coming Sunday, Dec.• 5,
St. Columban Soccer Club is
holding a special • meeting
concerning entering a "B" team
in the London and District 3rd
Division in 1977.
This team would provide an
opportunity to play for players too
old for minor soccer but perhaps
not experienced enough to make
the "A" team. it is also possible
that a few older playerS ,may
return to action in order to
provide this second team with
some ekperience and balance.
The meeting will be in, Si.
Coltiinban school at 1:30 p.m. and
anyone interested in 'playing,
helping, etc. is invited to attend.
This is the only meeting that`will
be held concerning this "13"
team, so if there is not enough
interest shown, the idea will' be
dropped.
Girls liomebrew Charripionship.
The . annual - awards were
presented as follows:
The Louise Murray Men-lariat
Trophy, donated by Gordon
McDonald, formerly of Dublin,
now of Ailsa Craig, is to be given
annually to the girl showing the
most desire and sportsmanship in
the Brodhagen Minor Softball
league. The runner up from the
Squirt team was ,Glenda
Beuerman, from the Pee Wee
team, Laurie Siemon and from the
Midget team Vicki l3ennewies
and Colleen Murray. The winner
of the trophy is Eileen Duffy.
The Louise Murray Memorial
Trophy donated by her neighbors
is awarded • annually to the
bantam girl showing most talent
and sportsmanship. Runner up
for this trophy was Barb Duffy.
The winner,'of the trophy is Judy
H111.
L.H.L. Notes: The 'Wings had
only seven players last Sunday
night. It didn't matter though as
the red team easily romped to
victory. Steve Southgate has now
hit five goal posts in the Last two
ganies.. This statistic is, virtually
unimportant but 41 does reflect
the run of incredibly bad luck the
Hawks have had in their last 3
contests.
Dale Kennedy had four assists
last Sunday night to raise his total
to ten for the season. It hasn't
been finalized yet but this year's
playoffs may be a round robin
affair.
This will be instituted to
prevent teams from sitting out up
to three weeks.. the Blues
last year.
The Hawks would have to be
-considered the biggest
disappointment so far this
season. Steve Southgate, Jerry
Feeney, Ben van den Akker, Dave
Broome and Aim Coleman .are all
toiling at sub par level.
It looks like the Blues and
Wings could be the two teams to
beat right now. ..the same teams
that dominated last seasons.
Games next Sunday, December
5, 1976.
