Be on the, satie side with turkey
No Matter how experienced you
are in preparing and serving
turkey, still there may be several
questions on your mind! Here's
what you need to know about
thawing, roasting and stuffing to
serve turkey on the safe side.
Thaw the bird in its original
wrapper either in cold water,
allowing about one hour per
pound or in the refrigerator,
allowing five hours per pound.
These methods keep the outer
meat and skin cold while the
interior is still thawing. It's very
important to refrigerate or cook
turkey as soon as it has been
thawed. Never leave it sitting at
room temperature.
Also in the interests of safety,
don't stuff turkey until just before
the bird is to go in the oven. It
may be very convenient to he able
to pull a ready-stuffed turkey
from the refrigerator or freezer
and pop it in the oven, but it's
time. , of meat from scraps. Refrigerate
