The regular attendance draw
was held and won by Donald
Dearing of Exefer but since Mr.
Dearing was not present another
dollar was added to the pot for the
next meeting.
Gordon Steinacher of Fordwich
donated a pair of Red English
Trumpeter Pigeons for a draw
and the winner was Bert Mills of
Goderich netting the club $8.00.
Jack Mayheu of Clinton put up
a class of Sumatras for judging
and discussion while , Henry
Haveman had Old English Game
hens for similar purposes with
Bert Mills making the. placings.
A discussion, using the
Standard of Perfection as a guide,
was held.

Now that winter is coming on,
the Red Cross Water Safety
Service reminds you to make sure
that the ice on ponds and lakes is
at least four inches thick - that's
ten centimetres - for safe skating.
And stay away from stumps and
logs which are imbedded' in the
ice. The ice is often weakened by
shifting and expansion.
So, when relatives arrive, you can watch their
faces light up.

PAINTING UP THE PAGES — After each page of the Expositor is shot, the full
page sized negative is hung up to dry. Theh Expositor employee Leo Hagan looks
over the pages and paints red opaque on all the white spots that appear on the neg.
The spots, which may be caused by dust or cutting marks have to all be opaqued out
before the page 'is printed or they will show up as black smudges and spots on the.

Tice Huron County Poultry,
Pigeon and Pet Stock Association
have agreed to begin work on
preparing a breeders directory for
1977.
The Association first prepared
such a directory in 1974, repeated
the program in 1975 but not in
1976, It was pointed out that since
compiling the last directory there
were a number of new members
and it was agreed that a new
directory was in order.

Lloyd Willett was nominated to
attend the national convention in
Edmonton of the National
Farmers Union when local 317 of
the NFU met November 16 in the '
Dashwood CoMmunity Centre.
Local 317 also agree to send
representation to a six week
workshop at Mitchell which is
being orga.nized by the Hydro.
Commission. Over recent
months, representatives of the
NFU have attended several meet-
ings' concerning nuclear power
production.
Lloyd Willett and Gerald
Regier reported to the meeting on
a gathering in Woodstock on
October 25 where Dr. Murray
Miller spoke on land erosion.
The NFU delegates noted that
Dr. Miller recommended "Soil
savers" and the chisel plough,
but not when land is wet. He also
recommended shallow tillage, if
using the mould-board plough.
A presentation of color slides
was made to the November 16
meeting with a taped narration on
the marketing of beef and
explanations of why the NFU is
working toward a National Meat
Authority.
Changes in air temperature can
often affect the solidity of ice. Red
Cross urges you to always check
ice conditions before venturing on
'%the surface. What might have
been safe skating by last night's
moon might be very thin ice by
today's noonday sun.
