To thevElectors of
TUCKERSMITH
fr
It was at 'the insistence of many friends and
neighbours' and after much *Ought that I decided
to seek noinination for the position of councilor. As
a resident of Tuckersmith Township I am
concerned about the quality and quantity of
government that I receive. I think that in spite of
what was said to the contrary after the last
provincial election, regional government is still
planned for all Ontario. I feel that the recent
Property Tax Revision Proposals are the first step
toward that end. I am opposed to regional
government because I feel that it will cater to more
urbanization and industrial' growth because of the
resulting broader tax base, and that rural and
agricultural needs will be neglected. I also think
that a regional government will lose contact with
the people. Just because it is bigger doesn't mean
it is better.
I have had no , experience at municipal
government but I feel that my background will be
of benefit. I am a graduate of Centralia College of
Adricultural Technology class of '69.1 farm 350
acres and for five years I have been a director of
the Hensel! District Co-Operative, this past year
I as vice7president.
If you are as concerned about the •future of
Tuckersmith Township as I am, on December 6 for
