crowd packed the Hibbert United Church hall last
week for the ham, eggs and homemade baked bean
supper organized .and served by the men of The
church. Eggs were cooked to order for each diner and
service and food were reported to be good.

brated their 50th Wedding Anni-
Yersary Saturday evening at when
friends, relatives and neighbours
gathered at the Orange Hall in
Mitchell for a social evening when
'progressive euchre was enjoyed.
Sunday the family treated their
parents with an a ersary
dinner at the home 4if their
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd Wassman in Mitchell.
Norman and Anna were
married November 18, 1926 at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church, Brod-
hagen by Pastor Alberta. Their
attendants were Mrs. Della
Siemon, Mitchell, a sister. of the
bride and Fred Kistner of Brod-
hagen. a brother of 'the groom.
Mr. Kistner is a son of the late
Mr, and M-rs. Adam Kistner. The
former Anna Gloor is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
Gloor.
Following their marriage, they
lived between Brodhagen and
Bornholm where Mr. Kistner was
'well known as a carpenter and,
mason.
They have three children, a
son, Glen of Stratford and two
daughters, Mrs, Floyd (Helen)
Wassmann, and Mrs. Ben (Joan)
Boyd of Southampton and four
grandchildren.
A large number of messages,
cards of congratulations were
received from relatives,' friends
and neighbours, as well as local,
provincial and federal politicians.
There was a basket of flowers
placed in St. Peter's' Lutheran
Church,r Brodhagen, Sunday
morning, from the funeral of Fred
Dipple. of Mitchell. Mr. Dipple
was a member of the Brodhagen
band and also sang and led the
choir in St. Peter's Lutheran
Church, Brodhagen,
We are glad to hear Ivan
Eickmeier who was a patient in
Stratford General Hospital, has

Mrs. Norman Harburn led in the
responsive reading of Psalm 22.
The roll call on Remembrance
was answered by ten members
and three visitors. Mrs. Carter
Kerslake, assisted by Mrs. Eldon
Allen, presented the study book
on the Christian Conference of
Asia (CCA) which is a conference
of churches from Pakistan to
Japan including New Zealand and
Australia. Their priorities are to
deal with hunger. human rights
living theology,
Hymn 318, Blest Be the Tie,
was sung. Mrs. Frank Hamilton
gave a Remembrance Day topic,

hymn of the November meeting of
LC, W. The theme of the evening
was. dealing with devils, demons,
exorcism, superstition and the
forces of God vs. forces of the
devil.
Scripture lession, 1 Corinthians
3: 1-16 was read by Mrs. Robert
Robinson. Psalm ,46 was read
responsively with Mrs. Edgar
Elligson leading.
The offering, was received
followed by 'singing "We give
thee but thine own." "A mighty
force is our God" was sung as
introduction to the topic of the
evening. Pastor A. Horst gave an
interesting talk on • the subject,
relating to the book, Satan is alive
and well on the planet earth.
Minutes and correspondence
were read. Several courtesy
remarks were received in regards
to hostessing the Western District
Assembly recently, also, the..
minutes and financial reports of
the Women's Auxiliary of
Waterloo Lutheran .seminary
were reviwed.
Treasurer's report was given
by Mrs. Mervin Leonhardt. A
substantial sum was voted to the
church improvement fund toward
the washrooms which were
recently renovated. An additional
gift is to be forwarded to the
L.C.W. Synodical budget.
4 donation was given to the
Chambera of Commerce for hall
use at the time of the Assembly.
December 14 was the date
chos6 for the annual Christmas
social. The visiting committee
reported several calls made by

funeral of Fred Dipple and
Charlie Workman, both on
Wednesday in .Mitchell. Pastor
Vernon Threinen officiated for
both funerals.

Mrs. Russell Sholdice from Strat-
ford. They also called 'on Mrs.
Katie Querengesser and Alf on
Sunday.

Mrs. John Vock accompanied
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eickmeier on
Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Ron
Smith and Jacqui on Sunday. Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Smith visited at
the same home.
Sincere sympathy is expressed
from the community to Lawrence
Messerschmidt, formerly from
Brodhagen vicinity, in the death
of his wife, Emma. M.
Messerschmidt, who passed away
in the hospital on Monday
morning, Nov ember IS.
Sympathy is also extended to
Mrs. Norman Bennewies and
family, the former's sister-in-law.
The funeral was held at Mt. Zion
Lutheran Church, Thursday,
November 18. Clergyman was
Rev. Gerd E. Heldman. She was
laid to rest in —Forest Lawn
Cemetery. A large . nuttitl'er
attended from this area.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brown had
the pleasure to spend the
weekend with the latter's mother
Mrs. Etta Armstrong in
Melbourne. '
Mrs. Alice Tait, formerly from
Brodhagen, attended the worship
service at Seebach's HIll
Lutheran Church. Alice's cousin's
baby daughter, Sarah Elizabeth,
daughter of John and Rosella, nee
Connolly, was baptized. The
godparents were Mr. and Mrs:
Robert Wolfgram, Mitchell. The
pastor is Robert Morley. Mr. and
Mrs. Lavern Wolfe were not able
to attend.
Sincere sympathy is expressed
to the family and especially to Mr.
and Mrs. Edwin Gloor (Dora) in
the death of her father, Eli
Rapien, the oldest member of St.
Peter's Lutheran Church,
Brodhagen. Mr. Rapien would
have been 100 years old on Friday
and his funeral was on Saturday.
Mr. Rapien and his wife lived
, in 'Brodhagen 27 years in Arsg,,
different homei, last in the
residence of Gordon Miller.
Mrs. Harold Mogk, Mrs. Irvin
Miller, Mrs. Ella Rose and Mrs.
Minnie Vock, who volunteered to
act in charge of this project.

What's going on in St.
Columban? Well, first of all,
there will be no election. Perhaps
that's a sign of contentment,
However I have been advised
there will be ne Santa Clause
Parade, due to restraints. Santa is
advising you come to see him
when in the vicinity.
The "Oldtimers" held a very
successful card party last u st
day afternoon. Thanks to. our
neighbouring clubs from the east
and west; there was a good
turnout for a starter. The village
proper had a 99% turnout, but
there are several from the country
who can't drive a car if they had
one, and others who have a car
but no one to drive.
Sometimes I think we oldies
look and act like the weather - the
high pressure systems and low
pressure overtaking the high so
it's a wait and, see situation.
Remember you don't have to be
70 or 80 to join those clubs. In
fact, like any other, we must have
younger members otherwise we
eventually run out of material.
So regardless of age, you will
certainly be welcome and I
promise you will be home before
dark. Note: Seaforth have theirs
on the first Thursday of the
month. St. Columban, the second
Thursday, Dec. 9 coming up.
'Dublin pee wee hockey team
