to shoot at
lagoon
Town council gave its blessing'
to an agreement between the
newly formed Seaforth Duck Club
and. the Ministry of the Environ-
ment that gives the club hunting
rights on the Seaforth sewer
lagoon in Tuckersmith township.
The ministry has agreed to the
club's shooting there until the
end of 1977 in exchange for its
looking after fences, posting and
patrolling the site.
The club, according to presi-
dent, Dave Dale, has also been
talking to the Ministry of Natural
Resources and intends to set up
nesting boxes and to band young
birds.
The club is obligated to make
sure that member hunters don't
disturb neighbours of the site and
will limit the number of hunting
days per season and the number
of members on the- property at
one time.
"The club is serious in its
• approach to hunting and conser-
vation and fully intends to
practile both in such a manner asn'
to benefit grid protect the public
at large," said Mr. Dale's letter'
of information to council.

The early game had the Hawks
blasting the Kings by an 11.4

Wings stagger to a 3-2 win .over
the ..Flyers -arid the late contest
featured a 7-1 victory by the Blues
over the Stars.
-Hawks - Kings
Steve Southgate scored the first
goal for the Hawks at 3:55 of the
opening period and the team
never400ked back on route to the
easy 11-4 victory. Casey Klaver

for help in buying it Monday
night, Dennis McCauley and Bob

town could rent the bus and
wondered if recreation grants
would be available for its
purchase.
Councillors told the men to talk

Kevin Bennett's 2nd goal of the
night at. 17:50 of the final period
gave the Wings a hard fought 3-2
win over a lifeless Flyers Club.
Terry Johnson scored the other
Wing goal on a breakaway.
Ken Doig Jr, and Joe Dick
replied for the Flyers.
From an artistic point of view,
the game was a critic's delight.
But it is still early in the season
and all the teams look relatively
even despite the scores.
Blues 7, Stars 1
Clive Buist lead the 'Blues
charge with a hat trick and Bob
Montgomery scored 2 goals to
pace their club to a big 7.1
opening victory over the Stars.
Dale Kennedy and rookie Ron
FluMsteel scored single goals for
the Blue team.
Ken Devereaux scored the only
Stars goal early in thefirst period.

"We have, transportation costs
in the summer, maybe we cod
get together," sugges d
councillor Charlie Campbell,
council's rep on the rec
committee.
Mr. McCauley said the team
spent nearly $3000 on travel last
year and that the bus, including
insurance, would cost about
$2600. The team's expenses have
been high at the beginning of
their season because they've had

had been absent in past seasons.
The scoring ra ce will be in the
paper in about 4 weeks. It's
usually takes that long for things
to spread out.
Jerry Feeney, Dave Broome
and Dale 'Kennedy are the only
players with 4 or more points
after the first game.
No less than' 7 men had 3 point

The league has introduced a

Seaforth's wasn't ready.
The Centenaires played their
first home game in the Seaforth
arena Friday night. Council
assistance would_ help keep the
team's head above water and
keep it in town, Mr. Dinsmore
suggested.
