Marys, died Friday.. August 13, at
his home.
Dr. Semple was born in
Northern Ireland and was an arts

He was predeceased by his first
wife, Janet Goudie, in 1962 and

Dr. Semple is survived by his
wife, the former Marie Fox; two

Parsons, of Bra or and Mrs.
W, V. (Margaret) rionan, of
North Bay; and 10 grandchildren.
Dr. :_Semple rested at the
Lindsay Funeral H ome prior to
funeral services at Lakeside
United Church last Monday.
Further services were 'lipid at
Victoria Avenue United Chtirch in
-Chatham followed-by cremation.
The ashes were taken 'to Banff
Cemetery, Alberta.' •

A group of musicians provided the Family Night program on

Home were able to enjoy the music. The program was arranged
by Dwayne Tinney of Exeter and included Clifford McDonald,
Jim and glenn Nott. Mrs. Henderson expresSed the appreciation
of -the residents for the entertainment

Authority's 1977 Tree Planting
Assistance. Programs -have been
submitted to the MiniStry of
Natural Resources. Requests for
42,000 trees have been ordered
for 15' watershed applicants.
Reports from the Ministry
nurseries indicated that there
may be a shortage of spruce and
red oak for the next two years.

Conservation area are

program" in Turnbery Township.
The affected 100 acres in the
township have had a history of
flood)* problems dating bad( to
the040's and 1950's. In the last
three years the area has suffered
through four floods. The' majority
of the funds be supplied by
the Ministry' aiid'''snpplementary
grants from the Province of
Ontario. The benefiting
municipality will pay 20% while
the entire authority will supply
the remaining 5%.
The program has been
, established to offer landowners of
the problem area an alternative
choice of action. It has not . been
developed to expropriate the
land.
Land appraisal will establish
guidelines for prices offered by
the Authority. Initial acquisition
efforts will be centred on 53 acres
that are categoriied 'as , severely
flood-prone.
Member - municipalities
bordering Lake Huron have been
approached for their approvals to
commence an extensive lakeshore
development study.
The study will indicate the

to better equip managers in
dealing with office and adminis-
tration matters.
The Authority has received a
supply of placemats for distrib- '
bution. In addition to the
placemats that 'will be sold to
various establishments in the
watershed, the Authority is
offering placemats to service
clubs and 'non-profit organiza-
tions free of charge.
Maitland Valley recently took
part in the festivities celebrating
MarybOrough Township's 125th
anniversary. The Authority
received third prize in the open
class for their float entry in the
parade.
The completion of the
Authority's Experience '76
prOgram is August 20.- To date,
the crews have completed work at
Galbraith, Brussels' and Falls
Reserve Conservation Areas.
Municipal work has also been
done in Brussels,Clinton, Ehna
Twp., Goderich, Goderich Twp.,
Harriston, HOw ick Twp.,
Listowel, Maryborough Twp.,
Wingham, Lucknow and East
Wavvanosh Twp.
The technical staff have
completed a wildlife management -
report. for -the 'Wawatiosh Valley
Conservation Area, and 'a
preliminary report concerning the
restoration of the Brussels and
Gorrie Mills. Flight line mapping

map for the expanded watershed
