96 YEARS YOUNG — A life long resident on the
third line of Morris until he moved to Callender
Nursing Home in Brussels a number of years ago,
Bill Ireland celebrated„,,his..96th birthday there on
August 14. Mr. Ireland has two children, Mary, Mrs.
Stewart McCall of Walton, and Jim Ireland of R.R.5,
Brusseis, four grandchildren and two great-grand-
children. Mr. Ireland's wife, the former Mary Isabel
Anderson, predeceased him eight years ago. Family
and friends joined in the birthday celebrations.

the special pot at the Clinton
Monster Bingo on Monday,
August 16.While he happily
collected his winnings-4 Cecile

Vanastra were individual winners
of other specials, worth over $150
each.
Lois Smith of Clinton and

On Thursday evening, august
19 a farewell party was held in the
Walton Community Hall for Mr.
and Mrs. Art Heard who have
moved to their n ew home in St.
Marys.
The everting was spent in
playing euchre with prize winners
being, High lady - Mrs. Myer
Watson; low lady - Mrs. Sadie
McDonald. High Gent - Murray
Shepphard; Low - Earl Watson.
Crokinole Iva also played with
winners, Mr. and Mrs„, Mike
Vandenberg and Mr. and Mrs.
John Wiersma.
The Heards were called to the
frontwhen Mrs. Jim McCall read
the following address:
Regular service resumed on
Sunday morning at Duff's United
Church, following the ministers
holidays .
Mr, and Mrs. Sack McEwing
greeted people at the door and
gave Out the order of worship
sheets.
Rev. Ed. Baker spoke on his
sermon, 'incredible Results"
based on the scripture, readings
from I Peter 3: 8 - 15 and Luke 5:
1 - 11.

move from our • community
without showing you in some
small way how much we have
enjoyed having you live amongst
us for the pat 10 years.
You were strangers when you
first moved to yourn new farm in
Hunch Township, but as the year
passed we soon became aware of
the fact that you were a real part
of us. You were both always
willing to lend a helping hand
whenever 'the need arose.
We will all miss ydu but most of
all we will really miss the rich
jersey milk and the farm fresh
eggs, also the visit with Art and
the cats in the barn. Art always
had time to greet y ou with a
thanked the speaker and
presented her with a gift.
Following the business contests
were conducted by Mrs. Bev
Smith and Mrs. Watson,
including a fish pond for the
children and a candy scramble.
Mrs. Jan van Vliet, Sr. who
has moved 'to , Brussels was
presesnted with a gift by Mrs. K.
McDonald on behalf of the
Institute.
., The Institute will sponsor the
two 4-H clubs for the fall project,
"The Cereal Shelf", training
schools are Wingham, August 25
and 26; Clinton, August, 30 and
31; Seaforth, September 1 and 2.
Any girls 12 -years s old by
September 1 are, eligible to take
this club and are to 'get their
names into the leaders, Mrs.
Alberta Hudie, Mrs. Eleanor-
Liphard, Mrs. Lynne Steffler and
Miss Margaret Shortreed.
Institute Grace was sung and
the afternoon ended , with a
smorgasbord meal, enjoyed out
on the lawn.

the eggs cleaned and ready for
us.
This winter Art; when our lanes
are full of snow, we will think of
yqu sitting with your feet up,
looking out the window and
saying to Dorothy , "I wonder
how those folks in theWalton and
Blyth area are getting their lane
blown out this winter?" No doubt
Dorothy will say, "I wish we were
near so we could help them."
We h ape you will feel free to
visit us anytime. when you are up
this w ay. Now when you will
have time to sit out on the patio
and enjoy life, we would ask you
to accept these gifts as a small
remembrance of our friendship
together.

come and visit them in their new
home in St. Marys. Then

social half hour of visiting.
W.J.Leeming, Tom and
Bob attended the Threshers
Reunion recently at Brigdon on
Friday and Saturday. Tom and
Bob took part in the parade with
their Bell steam engine.
Blain Shortreed of
Grandview, Manitoba has been
visiting with the , Shortreed
families in ,the community,
Misses Ann and Mary Watson
visited for a 2 week h oliday with
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nelson, Robert
and Michael in Vancouver, B.C.
Ann flew home in two weeks
while Mary accompanied Ray,
Leona' and family to Edmonton
and Clyde, Alberta. Mary also
visited with her brother David in
Edmonton before returning home.
Mr. and Mrs.George William-
son left on a bus trip last
Wednesday to the Western
Provinces where they visit
with relatives.

The Walton Women's Institute
Family and Consumer Affairs
meeting was held on Wednesday
afternoon, August 18 at the home
of Mrs. Gerald Wpson. A picnic
was held out on th€ spacious lawn
as the weather was ideal for the
occasion.
Mrs. Don Achilles opened with
a thought, "Anything good gets
better when sharing". The Mary
Stewart Collect was repeated in
unison followed by the roll call,
"Bring a picture of your family
and, hoMe for the Tweedsmuir
History Book." There were 20
members, 3 guests and 9 children
present. The treasurer's report
was given by Mrs. Ken
McDonald.
Mrs. John Freeman, R.R.2,
Gorrie, who is president for the
Huron-East District was the guest
speaker. She said members are
lucky to belong to an organization

that is international and gave the
history of the Erland Lee Home at
Stoney Creek. Mrs. G. Watson
