the Firemen 8-7, in a tense game Monday night in,
Industrial Baseball finals.

game 9-3. The Oilerettes ended
the schedule with 8 wins and 8
losses giving them fifth position
for the playoffs.

The Oilers travelled to Kin kora
on-wednesday July 14, only to go

The ."A" final saw the Queens
win the "A" Trophy with an 8-7
victory over the Firemen in the
':.catly...c.ontest. The game was-a
real cliff hanger as the Queens
started fast open ing a 7-2 lead
after two innings as theFiremen
appeared jittery.
However the smokeaters 'Iet-
tied down and narrowed the gap
to 7-6 after six innings. The final
inning saw the Queens add a
single run which eventually
proved to be the winner. The
Firemen loaded .the bases with
none out but could only manage, a
single run as their final rally fell
short. A really good crowd was on
hand and the action proved to be
the best this season as the
Queens were presented with: the
"A" trophy.
The "B" trophy went to the
' Travellers as they came from
behind to nip the Villagers by a
5-2 count. the village opened a 2-0
lead which held up until the fifth
inning. Then Jerry Cooper's three
home runs moved the Travellers
-front- "for a -lead-they- never-

The first .game of the "A"
group. semi-final saw the Queens
stage, a seventh inning rally to
n ip Texaco 10-9. The victory put
the Queens into the "A"' final and
eliminated Texaco from further
play. The second "A" semi-final`
saw the Firemen move into the
final game with ..a strong game
eliminating the Turf Club by a
11-9-score. -- -

A-Playday that was to see about
1000 ,kids involved in summer.

Seaforth' . was postponed last
Wednesday because of rain, but
two busloads of kids came from
Owen sound anyway.
The call to the Owen Sound
recreation people from Seaforth.
cancelling the day arrived about
15 minutes after, two buses had
left for here early last Wednesday
morning. In spite of the rain
about 130 kids from Owen Sound
arrived ,tand "we entertained
them at the arena and had a good
time," Seaforth's recreation dir-
ector said.
The Playday was rescheduled
for Wednesday, August 4, rec-
reation director Clive Buist said.
This summer it's Seaforth's turn
to host the day of fun and games
for kids from Western Ontario
playgrounds; the location
Changes every year.
