The Liberal Party ttill believes
there should be a Provincial
Board butindicated in the Debate
of this Emergency Legislation
that it wa's too late to set one up
now, as 02,673 Ontario workers
have already been affected bx.the
AIB decisions as of June 2S,197,5
and a great many more had beep
affected, since then which are not
tabulated yet. Of those 55,290 are
in the Public Sector and the
remainder obviously in the
Private sector.
The AIB has made decisions on
987 cases as of June 25, 1976 of
which 186 are Ontario Public
service and 149 Ontario private
sector. In other words about one
third" of the decisions involve
Ontario workers. The Leader of
the Liberal Party, Dr. Stuart
Smith, during the debate went on
to say that the Federal A.I.B. has
built up a whole backlog of
jurisprudence. They have gained
the experience that is necessary.
Dr. Smith went on to say that it

This week, the Huron, Country

Presents the Mumberly Inheri-
tance,' the hilarious melodrama by
Warren Graves. This is the first
Canadiafi play to be produced at
_the Playhouse this year, in a
season comprised of Canadian
works.. French and English works
to celebrate "'Canadian heritage,
and two AmeriCan plays in honor
of the U.S. Bicentennial. Last
-week's Frenchi musical, Irma La
Douce, enjoyed outstanding
attendance records, challenging
even those of last year's biggest
hit Hello Dolly.
Set at Mumberly Manor,
Suffolk, at the turn Of the century,
this week's melodramatic spoof is
filled with high intrigue and
hilarity. The unfortunate specula-
tion of Sir Roger Mumberly, lord
of th.e manor, has thrown the
family into narrow straits. The
dastardly villain, Marmaduke
Mayhem, plots to take possession
of Mumberly Manor and its lovely
young mistress Daphne.. Daphne,
however, has given her heart to
Roger Stoutheart. Only ' the.
return of the long lost brother,
Jack, from "The Canadas" with
the secret of the inheritance can
save The day. A rousing example
of good old-fashioned innocence
and villainy.
The cast of The Mumberly
Inheritance includes many Play-
house favorites: Stan Lacey and

names to area theatre-goers. Mr.

signal Court ruling that the
method of closing was not proper.
The Government has appealed
the ruling to the Ontario Court of
Appeal and expects a decision in
September. The move has been
seen by some as pretaration by
the Government for a fall or
winter election precipitated by
the' hospital closing issue. Mr.
Miller indicated that if- the
Government loses its appeal, he
wants to introduce whatever
legislation is necessary to enable
the Government to close the three
other hospitals that had remained
opened in Durham, Chesley and
Clinton.
Both Opposition Parties have
said repeatedly that they will
oppose legislatlen to allow the
closing of these hospitals. Liberal
Leader Stuart Smith said that he
feels the Government has
managed to get aside the thorby
issue of Doctors' Hospital thus
avoiding the loss of Toronto's
ethnic vote and is preparing to
fight an election on the closing of
the other three.
It is my opinion that Doctors'
Hospital will be finally rescued by
the newly announced study but I
believe that if Doctor' Hopital, is
saved the Obverumeilt will not lit
able to avoid similar studies in the
areas where the other three
hospitals are to be 'closed. I can
"see no practical impediments to a
Province-wide study. Mr, Miller
indicated while the Province may
eventually do similar studies
elsewhere none will be done in
time to save the three small
hospitals. .The Minister of
Health's intention is to close them
and he said himself that be feels
more secure about the closing of
the other three than the closing of
Doctors' Hospital.
