(Staff Photo) Correspondent Don MacRae The second annual Lions Club Dublinfest .sponsored by Dublin and District Lions went over the top again this year. Over 500 partook of the famous Dublin Pork Barbecue with Willy Kroonen in charge. The talent show was enjoyed by all, followed by dancing in the new pavilion. - The dunking tank was a favourite with many volunteers taking part including past presi- dent Norm McKay, president Jas. Paratcheck, Jas. Snowdon and Hibbert clerk Charles Friend Had your reporter been available he probably would have been involved but instead he was involved in the French Quarter of Montreal. Patrons at the Dublinfest also saw two excellent ball games. In the first game Joe Cronini's Dublin Shamrocks defeated Bur- lington 6-2. Burlington came back to defeat the Shamrocks in the second game 10-2. were the order of the day. The columns of athletes and their gorgeous costumes were terrific. The dispatch of pigeons (homing), eighty in number, was like in days of old, the only communication between countries and cities. I understand there were sonje pigeons there from Stratford area. Don MacRae was lucky enough to win tickets to the opening ceremonies at 3 o'clock on Saturday at the Olympics in the Stade Olympique, Montreal. The ceremonies, as so many watched . on TV, were even move "impressive -when one is in attend- ance. The architecture is fantastic and music overwhelming. Mr. and Mrs.John Boven and family are having their neices and nephew with them for a months holiday from Holland, Mr, and Mrs. Ben Wilson 'sited with James and Lois Allison in Orillia over the week- end also with Aubrey and Gail Wilson. • Mrs. Ruby Eedv and Mrs, --GraerPethick visited with Miss Jessie Little who is a patient in University Hospital Friday after- noon. According to a report from Sebringville 0.P.P., a car driven by James. Pullman; R.R. 2, Staffa, was proceeding south on Perth County road 10 around 8:30 p.m. and was in collision with a car drive by Lillian Avery of R.R. 5, Stratford, who was pulling out of the driveway from the school.. The Pullman car' went. gut of control and next was in collision -with a pairked 1974 Dodge, owned by Raynor d Swart, R.R. 4, Seaforth. It next was in contact with a 1976 Mercury, .the property of, Peter Berendsen, R.R. 1, Kirk- ton, which also was parked. This impact sent the Berendsen car back and into another car, a 1970 Buick, owned by Hubert Icolk- man , 'Monkton. The Kolkman car rtioved back, hitting a parked 1965 Chrysler, owned by Thomas Skinner, R.R. 2, St. Pauls. Mr. Pullman sustained cuts and bruises but was not. Olive Lithe directed the pro-, gram which included a piano solo by Sandra Rcgele; contest by Laurene Regele and step dancing by Chilene , Glanville. The Hunt Girls sang "Kiss an Angel Good Morning; Olive Little and Ruth Axtman. each had a contest and Mrs. Little gave a 4r reading. 'Sherry McCall read the address and Liz was presented with many lovely gifts". Liz thanked everyone for her gifts. Lunch was served ' and a social hour spent. Celebrate Birthdays Mr. and Mrs. John Pethick recently celebrated their 86th birthdays. They were able to b together for the celebration hel at the home of their daughter son-in-law ..Mr. and ,Mrs— Harry Rapson. The esteemed couple received many cards and gifts to honour the occasions. A birthday cake made by Valma Miller was a gift from Valma and Bill Miller niece and nephew of the couple. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. George Pethick, Sharon and Ken, Ruth Pepper and Murray. Personals Mr. John Pethick- spent an afternoon recently with his sister Mrs. Annie Deane, London who fell and cracked a bone in her leg. Mrs. Robert Hulley visited with her sister Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Currie and family, Dorchester, Thursday. .1 Sharon Pethick spent the week- end with her • cousins Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harburn and family, Walton. Mi ss Beth Hulley, Cromarty Visited with the Hulleys Sunday evening. Mrs. Eugene St Louis and Paul returned home last Tuesday from a weeks vacation on Parry Island and Parry Sound • with Mks. Preston Dallas and Joan. They camped with relatives of Mrs. Dallas on the island. On Thursday Mrs. Eugene St Louis and Paul visited in Windsor with her mother and daughter ',al) Sheila. Saturday morning Paul and his sister Sheila left for a two week tour of the state of Florida and DiSney world.
