The Ausable-Bayfield Conser-
vation Authority is holding its
eighth annual. Parkhill Canoe
Regatta on Sunday, July 25 at the
Parkhill Conservation Area.
Each year the event has grown
in popularity with more Faces and
larger numbers of participants
and spectators. Eight races are
scheduled for the day, beginning
at 1:30 p.m. There are races
designed to provide fun and
competition for every member of
the family,
Registration takes place from
11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the day of ,
the races.. Registration fees are
$3. per canoe. The usual fee of $1.
or a valid season's pass is needed
to enter the conservation area.
Following the races, prizes,
trophies and ping will be
presented on the beach.
The Parkhill Conservation A-rea
is the largest conservation area
operated by Elie Ausable-Bayfield
Conservation Authority. The area
offers scenic nature trails, full
camping facilities, playing fields
and an inviting beach' area.
The canoe regatta has become
a permanent part of the summer
program designed to encourage
the public to become acquainted
with this conservation area and
others in the Authority's
watershed.

win in ladies baseball
The 7:00 ladies baseball game
on Tuesday, July 6, saw Debbie
Rau's team lose confidence as
they were destroyed by Norah
Eckert's team by a score of 28-6.
It took Rau's team four innings to
score any runs, and by this time,
the score was 18-3.
Norah's team got 10 runs in the
fifth inning, and the game was
called. For Rau's- team, Joanne
Matthews had a home run, and
Helm Wright hit a triple.
The Seaforth girls Bantam
Softball Team had a father-
daughter game on July 4. It was a

Rose Bisback with 4 home runs,
Marg Sills and Norah Eckert with
a home run each and a double
play between them.
Marie Little with a home run
and a...triple and Jane McNaugh-
ton with a triple helped their team
to victory.
The 8:30 game was stretched to
seven innings as Betty Beutten-
millees team was defeated by
Dorothea Williamson's team.
The game started out weel; the
fun, game with the fathers
winning 24-12. The ticket for the
groceries was drawn and Tammy
Dupuis was the winner. Mary
Lynn Clew sold the most tickets
and received a baseball glove.
On July 6, the girls played St.
Pauls. The girls felt they played a
very good game, even with the
defeat of 12-7.
The °thee game
played was on July 9 here in town
against Goderich. The girls did
their best, but were defeated by a

first inning was scoreless, and the
second inning was tied .1-1. After
that, Beuttenmiller's team just
couldn't do anything right, and by
the fourth inning, the score was
16-1.
But they struggled back and
didn't lose heart, only to lose
19-15.
Gail Price was the big hitter for
Dorothea's team with a home run
and a triple, and Charlene Brown
had a double play.
score of 14-4. Joan Sills hit a
home run. -
On July 11, Seaforth played
Kinkora away from home. The
girls played exceptionally well,
winning with a score of 24-14.
Maureen Hutchinson hit a home
run.
The next games here in town
are on:
Friday, July 16 at 7:00 and
Friday, July 30 at 7:00,
Both at the Rec.
