St. Columban played their
best all-round game of the year'
Sunday when they defeated
-London Carnival, taking complete
control of the game right from the
opening whistle and attacking
relentlessly for the duration of the
game. Although the final score
was 3 - 0, a 6 - 0 score would be
more indicative of the edge in
play. •
After missing • on 'numerous
scoring opportunities in :the
opening 20 minutes, Casey Van
Bakel finally put St. Columban in
front, scoring on a shot from 30
yards out, the ball dropping in
just under the crossbar. Marvin
Kale upped the score to 2 - 0' with'
a low shot inside the right post.
Then, with only one minute to
play, Paul Coyne scored the
prettiest goal of the game as he
faked a shbt, stepped past the last
defender, and fired to the
goaltender's left as he was
'moving to the right.
This game was a 3rd Division
Cup game and does not count in
the regular league standings. The
