Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobal were
very disappointed to find that
their Canadian. Flag had been
taken away one night last week.
Mrs. Elizabeth Alexander,

Payne have returned from a most
interesting tour of the EaStern
Provinces. While in
Charlottetown they attended the
Federated Women's Institute of
Canada Tri-annual Convention for
two days and heard the President
of the Associated Country
Women of the World, Mrs. Olive
Farquharson, 0.B. E. and the
Canadian President of W.I., Mrs.
.f.A.McLean speak.
Mrs. Gordon Love has returned
from visiting with her family in
Lindsay and Thunder Bay,
Ontario.
The first Hensall combined
Summer Service was held at the
United Church, on Sunday
morning with Rev,- Don Beck in
the pulpit ,and Mrs. John
Turkheim at the.organ.' The
subject of the sermon was, "Take
the Good News" - all Christians
should take action and help, to
spread the Gospel. The choir
sang the anthem, "We Adore
Thee", Flowers in the church

St. James' grade 8
is honored at school
Testament to each Student on
behalf of the St. James C.W.L.
Ewart Wilson presented the K.
of C. awards to the outstanding
students of the year. Recipients-
for 1976 were Carolyn Wilson and
Jack Hendriks.
Carolyn Wilson spoke on behalf
of the students and recalled the
events of the past year noting the
highlight which was their Confir-
mation on April 1 by Bishop M.
Sherlock.
She expressed thanks to. all
those who have worked with the
class throughout the years at St.
James .School.
Lunch was served by the
C,W.L. following the program.

The first big milestone teas
reached for 66 Grade eight
students when on Thursday even-
ing, June 24, each was presented
with his or her graduation /
diploma.
Right from the banquet served
to the students, their parents and
staff by the Varna United Church
ladies, to the presentation of the

The Grade 8 class of St. James
School was honoured on Wednes-
day evening; "June 23. Parents,
grandparents and teachers joined
the 25 students for a Mass of
Thanksgiving celebrated by
Father H. Laragh.
He reminded the students that
they must continue to know
themselves better in order that
they may grow - spiritually and
emotionally as well as physically.
Growth is a life-long, process
and can sometimes be painful, he
said.. "Parents, teachers and
priest have tried to help you to
grow - to understand the
complexity of human life. They
have tried to give you an
understanding of what it is to be a
man or a woman. All of this is
God's plan for life and love,"
Father Laragh said.
Following the Mass, diplomas
and school awards were
presented to each-student. Mrs,
M. Huard presented. a New
SPS valedictorian
Bob Thompson was valedictor-
ian Thursday when graudation
exercises were held at Seaforth
Public School for grade eight
students. their parents and
friends. He called S.P.S. the best
.public school in the county.
Bruce Shaw, principal of
S,D,H,S. was guest speaker and
was introduced by James
McClure and thanked by Stephen
Hildebrand. •
The grade eight Award of Merit
was won by Ann Ribey and Danny
McClure. Winners of the .Huron
