St. Columban'defeated
Goderich United "B" 3 - 0' on
Sunday and continued their push
towards. first place in the London
and District Soccer Association

controlled the play for most of the

B rian Murray scored with 20
minutes gone in the 1st half,
putting a hard shot into the-top of
the nel from eighteen yards
out.The rest of the half was rather
scrambly and Goderich had their
best chances of the ga'me. Goalie
Frank Verberne had to be
especially quick on a couple of
Goderich .hrsAks up the middle.
However, in the Second half, the
defenCe, anchored by , Neil
Murray, never allowed the
Goderich forwards to get,

§t. Columban 'on rushes of their
own. Midway in the half, Brian
, Murray got his second goal,

Van Bakel. Then, with less than 5
minutes to play, V anBakel scored

Huron Centennial has track
Columban's best chance when is
head ball off a corner kick hit the
goal post. Early in the second half
St. Columban nearly .tied the
score as Gord Dick's head b all
went just-over the net. 'With. 25
minutes to play St. Th tunas went
up.by 2 - 0 when a shot from 25
yards out went over Verberne's
head and dropped in just under
the crossVar. St. Columban
narrowed the lead to 1 goal less
than 5 m mutes later as Casey
Van Bakel's sharp angle shot
from the left side glanced off the
goaltender into the net. When the
game got down to the last 5
minutes , St. Columban pushed
virtually everyone to the attack to
try and get the equalizer. This left
the defence understaffed and. St.

score their 3rd goal.

Spring weather came to us
early at Easter, then left just as
quickly. The poor weather
seriously hampered our track and

Each team supplied their own
pitcher and we were allowed 2

way everyone was able to get a hit
and it gave us practice in our
fielding skills.
On the 17th of June, Clinton
Public School hosted the area
