mind AO participate in

were disappointed Monday night
who members of council flatly
rejected the idea at their regular
meeting.
Council had received a letter
from the Town of Exeter stating
that they were only considering
building an arena and hall, but
not a swimming poll 'which some
members, of HensaLcouncil had
hinted they might support at last
month's regular councitmeeting.

Brad Finlayson, scoring 3 goals
and helping to set up 3 more, led
the St. Columban Soccer Club to a
convincing 6-1 victory over Um-
don Huron House. This was the
first scheduled game of the 197.6
season.
St. Columban started off very
strongly, and despite playing
against the wind, held a 5-0 lead
at half-time, . Marvin Kale, and
Brian Murray scored, along with
Finlayson's 3 goals. Early in the
2nd half, Casey Van Bake! upped
the score to 6-0, banging in the
rebound after Gord Dick was
stopped on' a breakaway, How-
ever, after this goal, St. Colum-
ban seemed content to rest on
their lead and stopped carrying
the play to the London team.
Huron House controlled most of
the midfield play from the time of
the 6th goal until the final whistle
and as a result had many fine.
scoring opportunities. However,
they were only able to beat goal
keeper Frank Verberne once, the
goal coming on a penalty shot.

Bicycling has changed,
and so'have bicycle
safety rules.
This is what
is doing to bring bicycle
safety up-to-date
There are about 21 /2 million bicycles in Ontario to-
day. Last year 56 bicyclists were killed on Ontario
streets arid highways, and 3,720 were injured.
Even one is too many.
We urge you to make yourself. and your family
familiar with'the simple rules and guidelines of bicy-
cle safety. Obey all stop signs and traffic lights. Keep
in Mind-that a bicycle is, by detinition r a vehicle under
the Highway Traffic Act. After all, you don't just "ride"
a bicycle - you drive it. And Ontario want§ every
bicyclist to drive safely,
That's why the Ontario Ministry of Transportation'
and Communications has-prepared leasy-td-
understand folders that every bicyclist should read.
They're called "The Bicyclist's Handbook,"
ACM
"OntariO Laws and Your Bicycle," and "How To Be an
Expert Cyclist."
