terian Church (the present United
Church building) from 1901 ,to
1910. Rev. Davidson also built the
original cottages at Deer ,Lodge
Park on Lake Huron. Accompany-
ing -then?' was Miss Adelene
Illiner of Goderich, who with her
late. sister Roxie used to sing
frequently on special o&asions.
Roxie was also a talented pianist.
The offering plates used at the
church were donated by Roxie
and Adelene in memory of their
parents, Mr. and ' Mrs. Wm.
Palmer and their brother Willie,
who gave hik life for his country in
1915 during the First World War.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Austin of
Elora visited on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Mervyn Hayter. The
Austins were in the grdup which
holidayed in Hawaii with the
Hayters b couple of years ago.
Dessert Euchre
The Varna U.C.W. sponsored a
very successful dessert euchre
party On April 21-There was a,
good attendance, with seventeen
tables of euchre, and• prizes1Went
to the following : high, Mrs. Wm.
Caldwell; low, Mrs, Reta UpShalli
lone hands., Mrs, Harold Dowson.
Prizes were donated by Mrs. Tom
Consitt, Mrs. Bev Hill and Mrs.
David Roy. A large offering of
home baking and two Raggedy
Ann dolls were quickly sold,

reported for the C.P.T. committee
and the Recording Secretary,
Mrs. Leona Parke, reported for
the equipment on hand for the
C.P.T. committee, and donations
received.
The District Annual report of
the meeting in Goderich was
given by Mrs. Aldeert Vollanck,
peierling.

The Federated Women's
Institutes of Ontario met in
Toronto at the Lord Simcoe Hotel,
on April 5th - 9th , for the
semi-annual . spring Board of
Directors meeting. Thirty-two
senior and two Junior Board
Directors, represented all parts of
Ontario. Mrs., Herbert Maluske,
Chesley, in her Provincial
President's report, said time does
have a way of speeding by when
one is involved in such interesting
work as the Women's Institutes.
Many meetings were attended
including the United Nations
Association, presentation of the
Entrance Awards at the Univer-
sity of Guelph, College of.Family
and Consumer Studies, Royal
Agricultural Winter Fair, etc.
Plans have been formulated for
the Officer's Conference, to be
held at the University of
Waterloo, May 4, 5 and 6. This is
a training session for the office of
President, Public Relations
Officer of Branch, District or
Area, and 'Members-at-large.
Mrs. Earl Morden, Rodney, -
secretary-treasurer , of F.W.I.O. ,
said her mailings numbered 423.
From 1200 Bay St., Toronto, Mrs.
S. Armstrong'S numbered 1900.
This floes not include items
mailed -by the Home Economics
branch, Ministry of Agriculture
and Food. $1,530 has been
contributed to Nutrition Educa-
tion, $1500 to Pennies far_
Friendship. These are projects of
the ASsocaited Countrywomen of

to aid in an International
Scholarship Fund.

of the W.I. members and
co-operation in carrying out their

Erland Lee Home, was heard
from the chairman Mrs. Austin S.
Zoeller, New Hamburg, who is
also editor of the Home and
Country publication of F.W.I.O.
Ontario W.I. week at the Erland
Lee Home at Stoney Creek will be
May 31st - June 4th. Groups and
bus loads are encouraged to visit
during this time when, special
displays and dernonstratiOns will
be taking place.l Erland Lee was
co-founder. of Women'S 'Institutes
with Adelaide Hoodless. Mrs.
Maluske, who is also Senior
Board Director with the
Federated Women's Institnes.;of
Canada, announced the winners

Junior women's Institute
activities were reported by Mrs.
Wm. Jackson, Caledon East.
There are 8 branches in Ontario°
with a membership of 142. This
year they will award a scholarship
to a member furthering her
education.
Plans are being formed to Make
use of the Women's Institute Hall
at the Agricultural Museum at,
Milton.' The 80th Anniversary of
Women's Institutes will t be
celebrated in 1977.
Huronview ladies
The Huronview Home Ladies
Auxiliary annual meeting was on
Monday afternoon April 19 in the
Craft Room: President,' Mrs.
Keith Webster presided and
opened with. a poem. The
secretary, Mrs. R.M.Peck read
the minutes which were approved
and the roll call was answered by
a thought on the spring awaken-
ing.' Treasurer, Mrs. M.
Robinson reported a balance on
hand of $438.06.
A. C. Archibald, Administrator
of the Home, mentioned a few
things that are needed in the
Home, "We don't raise money. to
keep it. There is a tight budget."
It was decided to buy several new
'Quad Canes" apd get prices ,on
other items.
Mr. Archibald conducted the
election of officers for the ensuing
year, 1976-1977 resulting as
