a preview of the Easter Bunny's
preparation when they saw some
chocolate Easter Eggs prepared
for Easter. Also a frewh donut hot
from the oven tasted just
wonderful!
The colours behind the
different departments interested
the children, as well as the room
where the meat hung, and seeing
all the'big machines that' run the
motors, were all new to the
children. After Mr. Corrie
showed us all over his store, some
of the boys thought they would
like to be a manager too!
We arrived back at the school,
just in time for lunch.
Chicken Pox
Since mid-February, we have
had chicken-pok within or
school. Since March has come in,
the chicken-pox has really caught
on, and, in the primary grades
there are a great many away with
the disease. Hopefully, the winter
break will clear the air, and
everyone will be better and ready
to return on March 29th.

One of the highlights of the
winter months in our school', is
the Public Speaking Contest in
the Junior and, Senior Diyisions.
The winners in the Junior
contest placing from first to fifth,
were Cheryl McAllkister, Sandra
Coleman, Paul KaIbfleis'oh, Gail
Turnbull, and Patti Coleman.
Sandra won first place in Clinton
in a later contest, but failed td
place in Seaforth on Saturday,
where she competed against
winners from all over Huron.
The Senior Division produced
these winners - Gayle Horton,
Susan McAllister, Wendy Kloss,
Glen Haney and Heather Moffatt.

This Wednesday, March 17th,
the Grade Eight classes were
curling against the Grade Eight
class of Clinton Public School at
Vanastra Curling rink.
The bus drivers of our school,
like all other bus drivers have had
a very had winter battling snow
drifts, drifting snow, and very icy
sideroads.
on March 3rd, the school was
closed because of icy roads.
Fortunately, the hydro was not
off, so school was on again for
Thursday.
Although February 25th had
been scheduled as a Professional
Development Day, the staff of
H.C.S. decided to have a 'regular
teaching day instead, to help
make up the time lost in stormy
days when the school was closed.
Field Trip to Clinton
On Wednesday, March 10th,
the Grade 1 classes, with their
teachers, Mrs. Kipfer and Mr's.
Swan, as well as Mrs. Stewart
and Mrs. Passmore, travelled by
bus to Clinton where they visited
' Bartliff's Bakery, Corrie s Food
Store, and the Police Station.
• "The classes, divided into three
smaller groups, rotated from one
place to the other.
The highlight' of the visit to the
Police Station was when Chief•of
Police Westlake locked the group
in jail. It was fun to see how the
police use their loud speaker in
their car.
At the Bakery, the children had

The Ontario Housing Corpora-
tion on behalf of the ministry of
housing will conduct a survey to
determine the need and demand
for senior citizen housing in' the
Townships of Stanley and
Tuckersmith.
A research analyst will
estimate the number of senior
citizens living in the community
whose housing is inadequate or
who arc spending more, than they
can afford orracedmmodation: ,
The demand in the area for
such Ontario Housing Corpora-
tion accommodation on a rent-
geared-to income basis will be
determined from information "
gathered through advertising,
direct mail questionnaires,
interviews and applications on file
with the local housing managers.
The study, which will begin
soon, was requested by the
council of the Township of
Stanley.
'Letters outlining • OHC's
senior citizens, asking them if
they wish to participate. If an •
interested senior citizen does not
receive a questionnaire by mail,
he or she may obtain one from the
clerk's office of Stanley at
Brucefield.
A typical senior citizen
apartment consists of a bedroom
living room, bathroom , and a
kitchen which is equipped with a
stove and 'refrigerator. In 'larger
cities senior ctizen accommo-
dation may be. prov ided in
high-rise buildings, but in most
communities the typical senior
citizen development is a one or
two-storey building.
Aft er it receives the result of
the survey, the municipality can
initiate the development process
by adopting a resolution asking
OHC to provide the required
accommodation.
Senior , citizen housing is
erected at no capital cost to the
municipality. The Federal
GoVernment, through Central
Mortgage and Housing Corpor-
ation, lends OHC 90 per cent of
the capital cost and the province
lends OHC the balance, Both
governments are repaid by OHC
with interest.
OHC makes an annual grant to
the municipality to cover normal
municipal taxes. The Federal
Government pays half the cost of
rent subsidies, the Provincial
Government pays 42% per cent,
and the municipalitY 71/2 per cent.
