Seaforth Sponsored Seaforth Curling Club hosted two very successful Bonspiels this past week, A farmer's spiel sponsored by MeGavin Farm Equipment was held on Wednes- day March 10. Winner of the 9:00 draw ,was 'George Alexander's team and winning the 11:00 draw was Roy Rennington's team from Teeswater. On Saturday, March 13, Flem- ing Feed Mills, Ltd., sponsored a Mixed open Bonspiel. First prize winners of the 9:00 draw were Bob Wilson, Marg Fleming, Bill Fleming and Sharon Wilson. Second prize went to Bill and Series endsas beats Pee Wees The •final game between Clinton and Seaforth Pee. Wees was held on Wednesday, March 10 at Seaforth. Clinton 'won the series ‘vtih three wins and a tic. The score of this fast game was Clinton 8. Seaforth 4. The scorers for Clinton were Jim Fleming (2 goals; , Ian Peck - f2 Roals). In the first period before the 5:27 mark Listowel scored 2 goals. At the 9:05 mark David MeLlwain scored the first goal for Seaforth making the score 2-1 for Listowel at the end of the first period. Early in •the second period Listowel scored again with a 3.1 lead for them. At the 5:38 mark David McLlwain getting a break away IMstled down the ice getting his second goal of the night. The Seaforth Atoms continued the winning style they've shown all year long by skating to a 6-4 win over Southampton, Sunday in Port Elgin, The 3 game series saw Seaforth win the first by a score of 3-1. Southampton retalliated in the secopd edging Seaforth 3-2. The climax came Sunday as Seaforth clinched the title by an imnrecsive This made it a really exciting game both teams playing hard but Seaforth just seemed to not be able to score that third goal that would have tied the game up. In the third period neither team scored ending the game at 3-2 for Listowel. Seaforth Novice and Goderich Novice now play off for the finals for the Western Ontario Grand Championship. The first game was in Goderich March 16 and the second game is here Thursday March 18 at 6:15. Local , people 0 are asked to come out and help cheer the boys on. Seaforth lost the first game in Goderich Tuesday night by, a score of 6-5 6-4 victory. Seaforth took the lead early in the first period-on goals by David K under and Marty Bedard. Other goal scorers for Seaforth were David Murray and hats off to John Dale for 3 more markers, Goal getters for Southampton were Harold Kelly, 3 and Barry Hodgkins. Previously the Atoms elimina- ted Mitchell and Clinton repec- tively to advance to the, finals of the W.O.A.A. against Southamp- Godedch and Seaforth With one minute to go in the 3rd period with Seaforth leading 5-4, Goderich tied it up. The game went into ten minutes overtime with Goderich getting the break to,win the game. Eight Local Novice house- _league teams will be competing Tuesday 'March 23 and March 24 in the LHZRA tournament hosted by the Seaforth Recreation Com- mittee. Teams include Monkton, St. Marys, Listowel, Seaforth,' Hanover, Walkerton and Goderich. The Seaforth team plays it first game against Hanover at 10:00 on Tuesday morning.
