SEAFORTH, 12' UNDER THE SURFACE — More evidence that sewers are in fact
finally coming to Seaforth was provided Tuesday when test holes were dug in
various sections of town. Representatives from companies interested in bidding on
the local project followed the machine around to see what kind of soil they might be
working. in. IStaff Photo);

We're not too satisfied with the
election coverage in the Huron
Expositor this time around. (And
not just for the reason that it's a
struggle to try and bring more
objectivity and balance to a
pap er that's been Grit for 115
years.)
No, our dissatisfaction comes
from the fact that to do the job
properly, we should b e covering
three separate election races and
we just haven't sot the people to
do it.
The way provincial election
boundaries have now been
drawn, Seaforth stands on the
corner of three ridings. We're in
Huron Middlesex, our readers
_right outside town to the north are
in Huron Bruce, and those
outside town to the south-east are
in Perth.
We've concentrated on
covering Huron Middlesex
because that's where most of our
readers live. Those running
campaigns in this riding have
been great about letting us know ▪ what's going on ...a real help.
We're not saying we could have
covered more events in the other
two ridings, but we could have
carried stories on them if
campaign organizations in both
Perth and Huron Bruce had sent
us information.
If you're involved in politics in
either of the two ridings on
Seaforth's fringe, make a note to
get in touch with us more often
during the next election.
Meanwhile, we apologize to
readers who couldn't find enough
election news from their riding in
the Expositor. Too bad
newspapers' coverage areas
arent's used when they define
election boundaries!

Most of the vendors who see
the Huron Expositor around town
will have missed the smililng face
of Andy McNichol last week.
Andy, also on the Expositor's
mail crew, has had some heart
problems and is in Seaforth
Community Hospital.
His good nature and loyalty is
much missed around the office

Advance
• vote is
heavy
While an accurate comparison
is not possible because of changes
in riding boundaries, the vote at
os the advance polls in Huron
Middlesex over the weekend was
heavy according to returning
officer, R.T.Bolton.
Total vote cast was 687
compared to 464 in the
by-election in March 1973. In
Seaforth 70 votes were cast
compared to 79 previously but
this could reflect the fact
MclCillop no longer is in the
riding and voters there were
required to go to the nearest
Huron Bruce advance poll in
Brussels.
Ballots cast at other advance
polls in the riding (with the 1973
vote in brackets) are: Clinton 77
(88); Exeter 255 (167); Goderich
203 (131) and Parkhill 62.
