Dolly comes here
Seaforth.
He said the company is fairly
satisfied with the tours, but some ,
towns have been consistently low.
"You have to give a year for a
new thing, to build up an
audience." •
There are no special
children's rates because at $3,
"it's dirt cheap". In Toronto, , a
ticket could cost as Much as $6.50
to $8.00, Mr. Covert said.
"Theatre has gotten very
expensive and that is what we are
fighting." It shouldn't be out of
the price range of average people,
he said.
Dolly in Tuesday night's
performance is played by
French-Canadian , "Jeanne
Beauvais. She has played Tuptim
opposite Yul Brynner in the King
and I.
Miss Beauvais will play the
part of Dolly Levis, a widow who
delights in matchmaking
people, for a price of course.
Dolly finally decides she'd better
do a little matchmaking 'for
herself before as one, song says,
"The parade passes by."
The play begins in a small town
not too different from Seaforth in
the Vandergelder's store in the
early 20th Century.
It's a musical one can see a
dozen times and still be eager to
see again.
