The President, Mrs. David Turner opened the meeting with Hymn 86 and a reading "Easter Eggs". Correspondence included a r thank you from Mrs. Lavery of the Queensway Nursing Home for the weekly get togethers with the residents; an invitation from Arnold Circle for March 18 at 8:15 p.m. In reply to a letter from Clinton Hospital it was decided to send a donation of $10. It was also decided to have a smorgasbord supper on,October 22 instead of a Strawberry'Supper and to have a bake sale and tea on May 31. Since Ap ' is the month to entertaiiVother churches, the guests s year will be Zurich, Varna, Goshen and Brucefield with the minister, Rev. Stephens speaking and showing films. To mark 'the 5bth Anniversary,' of Church Union, a quilt will be made. Mrs. Harold Jones took the Worship from Luke 24, verses 1.12. Easter and Meditation. Hymns 109, 104 were sung and the . worship closed, with a poem "Good News". Mrs. Edison MeLearvgave the topic from the study packet on Missions. She read an interesting version • of "Six Gifts to Make Your Children Strong' by Ruth Stafford Peale which was followed by a quiz.. The usual reports were pre- sented. Mrs. David Cooper gave courtesy remarks.- The hostesses were Mrs. Leonard Lovell and Mrs. Percy Wright. The meeting closed with Hymn 100 and lunch. KIppetill 4-H Club The first meeting of Kippen II 4-H Club was held at the home of Mrs. Jack Bell where the election of officers was held. President Sue Anne Finlayson, Vice- President Mary Jane, McGregor, Press Reporter, Vicki Bell, Sec- retary The second meeting was held at the home of - Mrs. Laird Finlayson, when the type of clothes to suit your figure was discussed. The third meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Jack Bell when the discussion centred around different ways to co-ordinate your wardrobe. Meeting 4 was held at the home of Mrs. Laird Finlayson and the topic was laying on• a pattern and cutting a blouse. Kippen II chose for their name the "Needlebobbers". Personals Miss Linda Bell is in Paris for the spring break. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Jackson have returned from a holiday in the South. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lovell are holidaying in Hawaii. Mr. David Lovell joined the spring break tour to Spain. - Mrs. Esther Moffat is on a three-week tour to Florida. • Mrs. Jack Cooper has returned from undergoing tests in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. - Mr. and Mrs. Edgar McBride are spending the spring break with Mr. and Mrs.- Steve Pine, Sault Ste. Marie.... Mr.• Elzar Mousseau who has been in Seaforth Hospital' since January has returned home. Mr. Jamie Caldwell is touring Paris during the spring break. Florida visitors , during the spring break are Mr. and Mrs. Laird Finlayson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bell and family. Correspondent Mrs. Mary Merner McKillop 4-H No. 4 held meetings 3 — 4 on March 17th at the home of Mary McClure opening with the 4-H Pledge. Meeting 3 roll call was answered by showing the blouse material and pattern and tell why it was chosen. Meeting 4 roll call was "a new garment or accessory 1 will need to complete my wardrobe." Minutes were read by Doris McClure. Meeting 5 will be held on April 8oth at 8:15 at McClures. Discussion for meeting 3 was on dress to suit the occasion and for meeting 4 the pattern was laid on the material and dots marked etc. and tailor tacks were demonstrated. Personals Mr. Gordon Betties of Salmon B;C. visited one day the past week with Mrs. George Mcllwain and also Mr. and Mrs. Carl Merner, Sandy, Julie Ann, Michael and Michelle. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Harris of Paisley visited on Saturday with Mrs. Jack Medd and Kerri. Mr. and Mrs. John Wammes spent a few days visiting in Blenheim with relatives. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. pawl Stevenson, David, Darren and Luanne were Mr. and Mrs.' Elmer Rader of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs.Cecil Herman and Betty Ann of Shakespeare. The occasion was a retirement party for Mrs, Carl -(Hilda) Payne of Mtn, Hensall. Mrs. Payne, a registered nurse received her nurse's training at University College flospitalf London, England ,and Queen's Mary's Hospital of Sick Children, Carshalton, Surrey England and Obstetrical training at. St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Ontario. In1946 Mrs. Payne came to Canada. For two years she was on the staff at South Huron Hospital, Exeter. For nearly 19.. years Mrs. Payne was employed part time'and full time at Seaforth Scott Memorial and then Seaforth Community Hospital. At the time of her retirement Mrs. Payne was Evening Supervisor at the hospi- tal. guests present -at Miss PAke's enjoyed a pot luck dinner. A chocolate and white cake decorated for the occasion was served with ice cream. After coffee Mrs. George Ring, Director of Nursing, presented Mrs. Payne with a wall barometer and flowers a gift, from the staff. Two retired nurses were also present, Mrs. Anderson and Miss Dunn. Mr. and Mrs. Payne have recently returned from a vacation in Florida. He is also survived by two sisters, Miss Rose Marion McLean, Exeter„ (Dorothy) Mrs Walter Geddes, Owen Sound; one brother Clarence, London. Funeral services were held froth the Hopper-Hockey Funeral Home, Exeter on Wednesday, March 12 by Rev. Harold Snell. Interment was in Exeter Cemetery. Pallbeare0 were: . Mrs. Bill Baker, the President, welcomed the guests and read a poen') "The Road of Love" followed by a hymn. The Devotional was taken by 'Mrs. John Baker and Mrs. Murray Bell using as their theme "As It Began To Dawn". The Scripture readings included the Easter theme. Mrs. Bell read a story on "The Easter Miracle" and Mrs. Baker read "Easter The Day of Hope". and closed with prayer. Mrs. Bob Bell introduced Mrs. Mina Talbot of Bayfield who has recentlyreturned from Palestine. She, assisted by her daughter Mrs. Bigelow of Exeter, showed slides of The Holy Land with interesting commentary. Mrs. Don Volland thanked the speaker. Mrs, Bill Taylor opened the meeting with a poem "The Wagon Wheel" followed by hymn 112. Group 2 was in charge of the devotions. Mrs. Harvey Hayter read the scripture followed by a prayer by Mrs. George Wilson. Mrs. Wilson read poems.• on the "Origin of Easter." Offering was taken up by Mrs. Grant Webster and , dedicaterd by Mrs. UM/ adopts Explorers 1.11 Alexander Taylor. Minutes of the last meeting were read and treasurer's report was given, Thank you notes were read.
