WI attends 'Baked in a Pie'
On Wednesday evening several
Women's Institute members and
friends attended the second class
of 'Baked In a Pie' held in the
Seaforth Public School. Mrs.Ross
Gordon, Mrs. R.M.Scott, leaders,
demonstrated on several ways
and kinds of pastry, also different
filling and hors d'oeuvres. These
were all sampled for lunch,
served with a cup of tea. All these
pies were very tasty.

Talbot, Principal of S.P.S. with a
Centennial desk set cotirtesy of
the Seaforth Women's Institute.

The 3rd meeting of the Sew
Happy Seamstresses was held at
the home of Joanne Boven on
March 3. The president opened
the-meeting with the 4-H Pledge.
The minutes were read by Vicki
Harris. All the girls answered the
roll call "Show your blouse
pattern and fabric and explain
why you chose them."
The members discussed the
points to 4 consider when selecting
clothes for different occasions..
They also talked about wardrobe
harmony. Kim Riley and Sharon
Eedy demonstrated how to make
alt erations on the pattern. Then
everyone straightened the sides
of their material. Next meeting is
a double meeting and it will be
held at Cavan United Church on
March 19th at one o'clock.
WALTON IV
The 4th meeting of the Walton
IV ,4-H's met at Jenny Reinink,
Monday, March 17' at 2:00. The
girls were shown how to make the
flat fell seam, the french seam
and how to do stay stitching on
your garment. They are to have
their garments staystitched and
the darts sewn.
. Seaforth Bobblpettes
The third meeting aWd part of
the fourth meeting of the
Bobbinettes was held at Joan Sills
on March 8th at 9:30 a,m. Eight
Members answered the roll call
'Show your pattern and mat erial
and tell Ohy you chose it'.
The girls discussed 'Clothing to
suit the Occasion' and 'Wardrobe
Harmony'. Mary Devereaux
demonstrated- how to' alter a
pattern and showed how to-place
the pattern on the material
correctly and cut it out. Joan Sills
demopstxated how to mark the
fabric using either tailor tacks, a
tracing wheel or chalk.
The rest of Meeting #4 and also
meeting #5 were_ held at Clare
Devereaux's on March 17th at
9:30 a.m. Seven members
nswered the roll.calls - 'Tell of a
ew garment or accessory that 1
ill need and my plans for the
style; colour and texture so that it
will fit into my wardtobe', and
'My suggestions for nut,
Achievement Day skit or
demonstration'.

The Stylish Stitchers met at the
home ,of the leader Mrs. Moyain
on Tuesday, February 28. The,
leaders discussed matching
colours to suit the wardrobe and
all the different styles that make
one look better. Mrs. Ivloylan and
Mrs. Dorsey showed how to lay
out patterns on the material.
