Sunday night's 1,H.L action
saw a pair of close games that
were both influenced by stingy
goal tending.
The early game saw Jim
Watson.Jerry Feeney and Ray
Devereux\score single goals to
lead the Kings to a 3-2 victory
over the Blues.
• Bill Pinder and Danny Muir
scored for the Blues. The King's
victory ended a five game
winning streak for the Blues.
The Blues poured on the steam
near the end of the game but
could, not finish off the scoring
plays.
The late game was at times, a
rough c,hippy affair that finally
had the Stars winning by -a-12.1
count.
Gary Montgomery was super in
the Star's net as he stopped at
least 4 breakaways.
The FlyecrS lone goal came
from Jack Groothuis. He wilt set
up by Dave Broome and Brian
Leonhardt. The three players all
skated in along on -Montgomery
as the Stdrs defence played their
weakest game of the year. It was
a vast improverrient for the Flyers
. and they' would have won out.
Lack of finess and solid goal-
tending from Montgomery stalled
any attempt at victgory.
Gary Betties and Bill Boshart
scored for the Stars.
The Flyers frustration' showed
at the end when Brian Leonhardt
took a round house shot at Joe
Dick of the Stars. He Cormected
but no penalty was-called. In fact,
the - Flyers were guilty -of a
number of penalties that could
have been called.
Games Sunday. January 19 will
have the Blues vs. Stars at 7:30
and Flyers and Kings will meet at
9:00.
