Kevin Kerr was on the mound for the first time for the winless Travellers, and showed real• promise and .could give the Travellers their much needed pitching capacity. Monday's regular' game$ saw the Villagers continue on their winning ways with a hard earned 11-6 win over the Firemen. Both teams played excellent ball throughout. The Smokeaters. drew first blood when L. Scott and T. Phillips scored in the second inning to open a 2-0 Firemen lead. The third frame however, saw the Villagers come up, with four bits and a walk to count 3 runs and the lead. The fourih'saw the complexation 'of the game and a 7-3 margin. The Firemen picked away but„ couldn't ' over- come the difference as the teams played' even ball. Rick Woods allowed only ten hits to the Firemen while Bob Wilson held the Villagers to twelve, Bill Price was the leader at the plate for the Villagers with a 3 for 4 effort, while Tom Phillips led the Firemen with 'a 2 for 3 output. The late game •at the Rec. Grounds saw the Turf Club make another late inning rally to overcome -an 11 run deficit to squeek out a 21-20 win over a determined Teachers nine.
