second annual flower show
Over 200 visitors attended the
annual flower show' Saturday
sponsored by the Seaforth Horti-
cultural Society.
The show, the second for the
club organized in January 1972,
,w18 held in the Seaforth District
High School auditorium. "One of
the best set-up shows I have
ever judged", stated Rev. J. W.
Siebert' of.---§tratford who judged
the flowers from the 35
exhibitors.'
Mrs. Reuben S. Aikens of
R.R.1, Dublin, was the grand
prize winner with 6 4 points and
was awarded the silver rose
bowl.
Miss D. Jean McEwen of R.R.
5, Clinton, was runner-up with 47
points.
Two boys ran away with the
top points 'in the section for
children of public School age.
Mark McLlwain, 8, of Seaforth
had 17 points, while 11-year old
Stephen Hildebrand of Seaforth,
had 13 points. Lori Strong of
Egmondville had 11 points.
In the annuars _section, Mrs.
John Broadfoot of R.R.1, Bruce-
points, Mrs. 'Emmerson Durst
of Egmondville, was second with
16 points and Mrs..J.,Statton'of
R.R.3, Mitchell, was third with
12 points.
Mrs. Edgar Allan with 3 points
had top place in the miniatures
section; Dr. Rodger Whitman
followed with 2 points and Mrs.
William Strong with one point.
. Mrs. Wallace Haugh of R. R.
1, Brucefield, was top winner in
the curiosity corner.
The door prize, 'The Com-
plete Book of Rose Growing' was
won by Miss„,,MgEwen. The
second door prize(hand printed
note paper) was won by Mrs.
Lois Hodgert.
Mrs. .Robert Newnham was
convener of the successful show.

Seaforth, with 6 points, won the
most points in the rose section;
Mrs. R. S. Aikens, Mrs. William
Strdng, Egmondville, and Mrs.
John McLlwain of Seaforth, each
with 5 points tied for second
place, while Mrs. Edgar Allan
of Seaforth, was third with, 4
points.
In the potted plants section
the top winner with 24 points was
Mrs. R. S. Aikens; Mrs.Wayne
Hugill of Seaforth with 6 points,
placed second; and Irvin Tre-
wartha of Seaforth placed third
with 5 points. ,

Rev. J. Ure Stewart, at 91the oldest member Of the Seaforth
Horticultpral Society, selects roses from his garden for his
entries in the annual Flower Show on Saturday. Mrs. Reubran Aikens, R.R.1, Dublin, shows one of the
prize blooms in her garden. She was the champion exhibitor
at the Horticultural Society Flower Show on Saturday and
won a silver rose bowl.
