The Church,Wornen Of Brussels visited the hOme 9n Monday afternoon.„2yhe annual visit in May by is looked forward te by the residents and this year was no exception. The program included vocal numbers by the quartette. Neba Scott, Ruth Hupfer, Sarah Stephenson and Barb McCutcheon with Mary Bryans as pianist for the afternoon. Selections by the rhythm band and square dancing by a group of the ladies rounded out the program which *as introduced by Rev. E. LeDrew. Treats were 'given to each member by the Home by the ladies and the appreciat- ion of residents was extended by Miss Florence McNaughton. Marie Flynn, Mary Taylor, Norman Speir and Jerry Collins provided the music for the Family Night program. This activity which is -normally held on Monday was changed for this week as we have had visiting groups on the Monday. afternoons in May. Two new residents, Miss .Margaret Kehn of Dashwood and Miss Mary VanCamp of• Exeter , were welcomed to the home. The program included:, dance numbers by Debbie Flynn, vocal and instrumentalsby Sandra and Ken Dale and Earl Flynn. • Rev. T.E. Hancock of Egmondville United Church kindly showed ts.Aloured slides of their trip to Australia. Mr. and Mrs. Hancock visited their daughter who resides there. The • pictures with the running com- mentary proved to be most en- joyable as well as informative. It was good to learn more of our Sister Commonwealth Mem- ber from "down under", Many pictures were shown of native animals and birds. The animals belong to the marsupial family and carry their young in a pouch. The plummage of the birds is most, brilliant in colour. Strains of "waltzing Matilda" could be heard during the showing. While, there, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Health Nursing.. Later on, she took a graduate course in public Health at' the school of Hygeine in Toronto. Prior to coming to 'Ckocierich, she studied at Western Olversityrin London where she received her Masters of Science Degree in Nursing. Further work experience came when she worked as Assistant Director of Nursing in the Peel County Health Unit. planning and venereal disease education in a London "Free Clinic". Her husband, Gurmel Singh, 'is about to graduate from Western University in London as an Electrical Engineer. They are now. living in Goderich onWater- loo Street. It was an odd circumstance which prompted Mrs. Thind to apply for the position. Alter thinking it over she -finally 'decide,d to, apply. Although she has been here only a short time, she sees the Huron County Health Unit as being very progressive. Mrs. Thind is very anxious •to find out' if the services provided by the unit are reaching the people as effectively as they should be. She bgileve's thata portable clinic may be more advantageous towards serving the needs of the rural people to a greater extent.. • Her impressions of Goderich are most favourable.' .Although she has been quite busy getting settled, she says the people have been most friendly and con- siderate.
