Last Sunday, December the
17th the annual Christmas
party was held at the Legion
Hall.
President Comrade Gordon
Scott welcomed the large
gathering and acted as master
of ceremonies.
The program opened with a
recitation "A Christmas story"
by Robbie Smith followed by
two selections on the accordion
by Charlene DeJong, another
recitation was then given by
Donna May Miller entitled
"Christmas Time". David and
Martha Hook then entertained
with a recitation "Who Is
Corning On Christmas Night?"
This was followed by
recitations by Chris Cardno
"Twinkle Twinkle" and, Mary
Ann Nolan, Sylvia Wco-o-d
Louise Nolan, Cori Habkirk,
Margaret .Nolan, all of whom
did a recitation. Suzanne
'le's:some then sang a sols2„ en-
titled "Oh Chester" and Marty
and Mark Flannigan then did a
western skit.
Next on the program was .a
quartet consisting of Artha and
Martha Looby and Jimmy and
Vicki Lynn McCreight who
sang two 'selections, Allyson
Scott followed by singing
"Jingle Bells"... Sandra Ruston,
Jeanine Melanson, Mary Hak

of Kilbarchan Nursing Home
which increases tie staff to a
total of twenty-four. There are
thirty beds available.
The name Kilbarchan has its
origin in Renfrewshire
Scotland from which village
Mr. Hodgerts great-
grandparents emigrated to
Canada and settled on a farm
in the Exeter area in the year
1832.
, The "Explorers" of Walton
United Church visited the
Home recently. They were ac-
companied by Mrs. Docken,
The girls chatted ,with the
patients and sang several
songs.
Dr. Toll and his newly for-
med band played twice recen-
tly. Many carols were played
and enjoyed. We understand
many of the instruments which
the band uses were used by the
former eaforth Highlanders
band. They have been stored in
the Town Hall and are now fin-
ding some use. We wish this
band every success in their new
venture.
A very pleasant afternoon
was spent at Kilbardhan last
week when the L.C.W. of St,
Peter's Luiheran Church
Brodhagen entertained, Rev.
Horst opened the program with
a devotional talk emphasizing
the "wonder' of the Virgin
birth. God firs't revealed the
Birth not to important people
but to simple folk to the
shepherds on the hillside and
guided them by 'the star to
Bethlehem, One of the wonders
was that the King of Kings was
born in a humble stable with
the beasts on hand. Then the
Wise Men appeared with gifts
of gold, frankincense and
myrrh, The angels sang "Glory
to ,God in the highest and on
earth peace, goodwill toward
men." Readings were given by
Mrs. Edwin Scherbarth, Mrs.
Martha Hinz, and Mrs. Boyd
Driscoll, The Christmas story
was read by Mrs. Winnie Vock,
followed by the singing of
familiar Carols accompanied by
Rev. Horst on the guitar and
his wife on the Xylophone. The
soloist was Mrs. Earl Rock, A
lunch was served followed by a
social hour. The ladies also left
a gift of fruit and candy. Miss
Turnbull .thanked the L.C.W.
for bringing the true Christmas
spirit to all at the Home.
number.
All the children are to be
congratulated for the splendid
way in which they entertained.
Mrs. Peter Malcolm, Doug
Stewart and Tom Young were
asked to lead a sing-song which
was next on the program but
Torn Young declined for ob-
Nious reasons. The children
were all singing when suddenly
they stopped and started to run
to the door, the reason was
soon obvious as Santa Claus
entered the 'hall.
All the children gathered
around the jolly old man who
gave every child candy, fruit
and nuts. After Santa Claus
had left, the Ladies Auxiliary
served coffee and cookies to the
adults.
Pfesident Comrade Gordon
Scott accompanied by his wife
Barb'ara and Santa Claus
visited the Seaforth Hospital
and gave each patient a car-
nation with a wish for a speedy
recovery and compliments of
the season.
Carnations were also given to
friends who were unable to get
out due to age or afflictions,
