MRS. GLEN SLAVIN
Passed away at Victoria
Hospital London, Thursday Sept-
ember. 14, 1972, Mrs. Glenn Sla-
vin, former Dorothy I. Elgie
in her 59th year.
Mrs. Slavin was born Nov-
ember 7, 1913 in Tuckersm,ith
township, the daughter of the late
John T. Elgie and Lena Eberhart.
She attended S.S. No 9 School in
Tuckersmith. She was ainerriber
of the womens rnstitute and was'
an active member in the Chisel-
hurst United Church while she
lived there.
In April ,1938• she married
Glenn Slavin and resided near
Chiselhurst until 13 years ago
when she and h4r husband moved
near Goderich. Mrs. Slavin was
employed at the Alexander Mar-
ine Hospital in Gtderich where
she worked up until the end of
May this year.
Mrs. Slavin is survived by her
husband Glenn, R. R. 4 2,
Goderich and a sister Mrs. Lorne
(Thelma) Dale- of Seaforth.
The body rested at the Bon=
thron Funeral Chapel, Hensall,
where service was held Saturday
September '6th;497 2- with, Rev.-- .
Donald Beck officiating. Inter-
ment, Maitland Bank Cemetery,
Seaforth.

The Basset puppy did it again
at a dog show in Petrolia, Ont.
"Diet" a Basset puppy belong-
ing to Mr. and Mrs. Ken Basset
won the best puppy and best
match award in the fair. There
were sixty-seven puppies in the
dog show.

Mr. Kenneth Jones who has
returned to Guelph for his third
term in Agriculture and
Engineering returned home for
the week end.
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Mc-
Gregor are holidaying 'near
Algonquin Park.
KIPPEN I 1-H CLUB
The first meeting of Kippen
I 4-H Club was held at the home
of the leader, Mrs. Ferris. Of-
ficers elected were Karen Ferris
president; Carol Chalmers, vice
president; Jill McLellan, press
reporter; Shirley Chalmers,
secretary. Kathy Bell, Doreen
Van Wieran and Barb Cooper,
are telephone girls. The club
in general was discussed and
pizzas were made.
KIPPEN II 4-H CLUB
Kippen II 4-H Club, the Kip-
pen Kabobs met at the home of
Mrs. Robert Bell. A drawing
by Linda Vanneste was chosen
for the book covers. Joyce
Branderhorst ' will be the next
secretary. Chris McGregor and
Joyce Branderhorst demon-
strated wieners and beans on a
bun. The cooking of fish,
flesh and fowl was discussed.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Seals and diplomas were pre-
sented to the Sunday School pupils
of St. Andrews Church, Kippen,

" Mrs. ginnlerSon Trow died
in Toronto on August 10. The
former Isobel Wilson; she -was
born in Seaforth the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Wilson.
She was predeapeased by her
husband the late Dr. E. J. Trow
but is survived by three
daughters, Jane, Mrs. Bud
Fraser; Anne, Mrs. John Orr
and Miss Margaret Trow and a
son Dr. E. J. Trow, all of Ter-
onto.
Funeral services were held
August 15th at the St. John's
Anglican Church., York Mills.
Interment followed in the church
cemetery.

MRS. JAMES PARTRIDGE
The death occurred suddenly
of Ethel Gertrude Kerr widow
of James Partridge of Toronto,
on Aug. 26th.
Mrs. Partridge was the dau-
ghter of the late James Kerr
and Martha Hillen pf McKillop
Township and Seaforth. She was
educated in No. 2 school in Mc-
Killop and later attended the
Seaforth Collegiate Institute. She
taught school for a number of
years before she was married
to Mr4artridge who passed away
4 years ago. Surviving are
one daughter (Jean) Mrs. Hans
Eickner of Toronto, and two bro-
thers, Howard and Leslie Kerr
of Toronto, one brother Brenton
Kerr passed away several years
ago.
Interment took place from
Humprey Funeral Chapel on Aug.
30th to. Mt. Pleasant Cemetery,
Toronto.

music and Disney movies. Martin is in Grade•one and is not
expected to excel academically.
This youngster has suffered a number-of rejections in his.

Norbert (Joe) Darwin of 218
Cowley Avenue, Ottawa died
in hospital in Ottawa on Sept.
8. He was 79. •
• A native of Seaforth, he was
the'son of the late John Joseph
Darwin and • Mary Josephine
Smith.
A regular visitor to Seaforth,
he was here last six years ago
when he recalled his first jobs
as a boy in Dick's Cash Groc-
ery and later in the. Stewart
Bros. store.
Mr. Darwin was a life mem-
ber -of the Garrison Sergeants
Association of Ottawa.-
He is survived by his widow,
