A combined service of Varna and Goshen United Churches will be held in Varna next Sunday at 11 a,m. with Rev. Peter Renn- er of Bayfield in charge. There will also be a Baptismal service. The next• Sunday Aug. 13th the combined service will be held in Goshen United Church with Rev. Clifford Britton in charge of the service. The remaining Sundays in August the churches will be closed. N ews of Huronview Arie Van Den Ende led the song service on Sunday evening assisted by members of the Clinton Christian Reform Church. Eighty residents from Huronview travelled by bus on Monday to "spend the afternoon'at Pinelake, follow- ing a short stop ai the boat dock area at Bayfield. Every- one enjoyed an hours'rest beside the lake before supper. A picnic supper was• served to the residents by members , of the staff and volunteers, • returning to the home at' five thirty. The management appreciate the generosity of the Elliotts of Pinelake for providing the accomodation for the gternoon and for the assistance of the campers' who helped with the picnicfr supper. There was a Scottish tilt in the air at Huronview on Thursday evening when the Brussels Pipe Band along with two Clinton Band members played for a concert on the lawn. Most of the residents were able to enjoy the concert either outdoors or from the west windows of the home. The band played several familiar tunes" in a circle; performed a drill on the front parking lot and finished the concert with the very popular, bagpipe tune, Amazing Grace.. CUNNINGHAM MacQuarrie, Preston and Mrs. Richard Dowson, Kitchener: They were dressed alike in floor-length.gowns of mint green chiffon with white lace yokes and carried bouquets of yellow shasta and white button mums. Venise lace trimmed the stand-up collar and fell in trellises doWn the length of the.gown. The detach- able train was trimmed with the same daisy trim as the dress. The three-tierred veil, which was edged with the daisy motif was held in place with a Juliette cap. , She carried an arm bouquet of white shasta- daisies centered with a mauve r hid. mss Wilma Westerveld of h arnton was brie maid of honor while Mrs. Jane Bilkes (sister of the bride) St. Thomas, Mrs. yellie Bick, Hamilton were the bridesmaids, ,,Miss Barbie De Vries, cousin 'of the bride was the flower girl. They were gowned in organza. The bodices with stand-up collars and puffed sleeves were in mauve while the flowered skirts were in compli- mentary tones of mauve and blue. They wore wide-brimmed hats which' were trimmed to match the dresses.
