The Call to Worship was given
by Mrs. Allan McCall. "For the
Beauty of the Earth" was sung
with Mrs. Ray Huether as pianist.
Mrs. A. McCall read the
scripture from Psalm 96. Com-
ments were given by Mrs. Jack
McEwing on the beauty of the
earth, closing with a poem "I
saw. God wash the world last
night".
The offering was received
by the treasurer, Mrs. Mac Shol-
dice and was , dedicated by Mrs.
A. McCall.
The devotional period was
closed by "This is my Father's
World".
Mrs. William Humphries
chose as her topic "The. Old,
Old Story", it being the wonder-
ful redemption, the remedy for
sin.
r Mrs. Nelson Reid presided
for business. The minutes were
read by Mrs. Howardliackwell,
followed by the correspondence.
A shower was announced for
Nellie Baan to be held in the
basement of the church.
The Roll Call was answered
by thirty members. The copper
contest leaders, Mrs. Ray
Iluether and Mrs. Nelson Marks
reported on their collection. Mrs.
Mac Sholdice gave the
treasurer's, report. There will
be no meetings until September.
Mrs. N. Reid reported on the
retreat she had attended at
Goderich recently.
Lunch was -served by the
hostesses, Mrs. Alex Gulutzen,
Jr., Mrs. Doug. Ennis and Mrs.
Ron Bennett.

'Unionized employees of -Ontario
Hydro has been confined to off
hours. Supervisory staff have
taken care of all but one trouble
call after hours since strike'ac-
tivity began, last Wednesday, said
Walter Palmer, Manager of Clin-
ton Area.- In one clearly defined
-emergency' Union members re- ,
sponded to Hydro's call for as-
sistance 'Through theiF steward:

distribution systems were so far
unaffected by direct atinie'act Joe,
although -supervisory personnel
*irked long hours last week to
-restore service after storms as-
spciated with• Hurricane Agnes-
swept the province.
The 12,000 ,member Local
1000, -Canadian Union- of Public
EmploYees has been in , a legal
strike position 'since, Jime 21.
The Union. has withdrawn over-
time and on-call duty- as part
of its strike action and has pick-
eted work locations across the
province. The Clinton Area staff
totals 46, five of which are sup-
ervisory personnel.'
There has been no progress
at the bargaining table since the
Ministry. of Labour temporarily
suspended talks on the eve of' the
. strike.
"When talks were suspended,
COPE was asking, for improve-
ments in wages and benefits
which would add $40 million to
Hydro's anneal operating costs"
said Palmer.. ,,The Com-
mission's offer of wage and beno-
fit improvements -would total
$17,470,000 annually."
Mr. Palmer said 'that the last'
Contract agreement between the
two • parties had increased
Bydro's annual operating costs
by $17,372,000.
