Ratepayers in Usborne town-
ship will find very little change In
their 19'72 tax rate which was
set recently.
Those property owners in the
farm and residentail category
and' supporting public schools will
find an increase of two mills
in their overall rate from a year
ago. A reduction In the Huron-
Perth separate school levy of
about three mills gives these
ratepayers a decrease of five
mills from 1971.
The rate for township puposes
for all school supporters will be
24.37 mills up from 22 mills.
An increase of 1.6 mills appears

secondary school rate is down'
6.2 mills while the public school
rate' has risen 4.3 mills to 20.1.
Tenders were awarded on four
township contracts with two being
municipal drains.
Robert Nicholson Construc-
tion of Sebringville was the lowest
of three bidders on the Scott
drain at $2,280. The Earl-Jaques-
drain Work .was let to Roth Drain-
age of Gadshill for $2,387, the
lowest of two tenders received.

Thursday evening with twenty-six
members present. The meeting
was opened by a poem "Suppose"
read by Mrs. Gordon Johnston.
Devotions were led by the leader
of group one, Mrs. Bob Stirling
and opened with singing a hymn.
The theme focused on' Security"
"The Bible in the home". Mrs.
Wm. Taylor read the Oripture
lesson. The following readings
were given "People Coming from
Holland" by Mrs. Wm. McAsh,
"Choosing gift to take with them"
by Mrs. Louis Taylor, "Family
Bible in the home" 'by Mrs.
Mervyn Johnston. A poeM "A
good housewife" by Mrs. Robert
Webster. The offering was taken
up by Mrs. Florence Elliott and
dedicated by Mrs. Ida McClin-
chey.
The business period was led
by the president, Mrs. Ralph
Stephenson. The roll call was
answered by naming a favourite
spring flower. Mrs. Ida Mc-
Clinchey read several thank you
-notes. Mrs. Robert Webster
gave the treasurer's report.
There were '38 sick and shut
id calls made during April. It
was decided to hold a rum-
mage and bake sale •at the Church
auction sale on July 22. A
donation was given to the over-
seas Mission and the Varna
United Church women will look
after the Hospital cart at Clin-
ton Public Hospital duringe.
An auction sale was held of
plants and homemade bread with
Mrs. Ronald Taylbr as
auctioneer.
